The Chicago White Sox placed right-handed starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with A/C joint inflammation in his right shoulder.

The move, retroactive to June 15, was announced prior to Sunday's series finale against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Gonzalez, 33, is 4-8 with a 5.49 ERA over 78 2/3 innings in 13 starts this season, his second with the White Sox.

The White Sox also returned right-hander James Shields from his injury rehabilitation assignment to Triple-A Charlotte and reinstated him from the disabled list so he could start Sunday's game.

The 35-year-old Shields, who was out with a right lat strain, will pitch his first game since April 16. He is is 1-0 with a 1.62 ERA over 16 2/3 innings with 16 strikeouts in three starts this season, his second with Chicago.
