Sportsbook coming to Canton’s Hall of Fame Village

Sports betting has just made the Hall of Fame, even as its availability continues to grow across the United States.

Chicago’s Rush Street Interactive, an online gaming company, announced it will open a sportsbook in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The location will be in the developing Hall of Fame Village, adjacent to the actual Hall of Fame itself.

The 10-year agreement still is contingent on securing the necessary licenses to operate. Hall of Fame Village is in the process of expanding its footprint to include a hotel, office and retail space plus a performance center and an indoor waterpark. The sportsbook will be located in a new “Fan Engagement Zone.”

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed sports betting into law in the state on Wednesday, with an expected launch date of Jan. 1, 2023. The move opened the door for casinos, stadiums, bars and restaurants to apply for gaming licenses.

Rush Street operates two online gaming brands: BetRivers.com and PlaySugarHouse.com. The company says it operates in 12 states and was the first to launch legal online sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Colorado.
