Terry Foster Terry Foster
My name is Terry Foster and I am a Detroit home boy but not
a homer who worked 33 years with The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press before
finishing my career in radio at 97.1 the ticket on the popular Valenti and
Foster show, which was the top rated afternoon show in Detroit for most of our
13 years together.
I wrote columns for The News and was the Pistons beat writer
for the Bad Boys days. I can still call Isiah Thomas and Rick Mahorn and they
will speak to me. I recently broke the Calvin Johnson is retiring from the
Detroit Lions story as some of my media brothers and sisters called it fake
news. But it happened and I think I have more scoops in my backpack. I hope to
use this platform to agitate and educate as my profession crumbles and the
young guns take over. I promise to make you think and never to bore you.
On the personal side I am married to Adrienne Foster and am
the dad to Celine Foster who will be a freshman at Stanford University in the
fall. My rising high school sophomore Brandon is a hulking young man who I hope
has the credentials to follow his dad at Central Michigan University (Fire up
Chips), but his goal is to attend Michigan State.
Celine is a great writer but won't follow in my footsteps,
scoffing ''you guys don't make enough money.''
I have 139,000 twitter followers who I anger frequently by
live tweeting The Bachelor.
I suffered a stroke in the fall of 2016 and doing a four-hour
high-powered radio show was too much for me. I am doing much better after
changing my eating habits, exercising and dropping 43 pounds. I was not fat,
My favorite Detroit venue is Comerica Park and my favorite
cities to visit are Seattle and San Francisco. If any Bay Area people want to
reach out to Celine feel free.
I know she will become a Warriors fan when she figures out
the difference between Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
