As difficult as it is to believe, the Washington Nationals are the reigning champions of baseball. What a season for this team and what a turnaround after late May. The Nat’s were in the cellar and nobody game them a chance to win the World Series. They found a way and it all happened without the highest-paid professional athlete in history – Bryce Harper. The Nationals played their way into the playoffs after securing the Wild Card victory and the rest is dominating-history. We had the Nationals ranked 10th in week 26, the last ranking before the playoffs. Here is what we said, “The Nats still have an outside chance and they seriously need help. It’s probably too late but in baseball, anything can happen.”

Home Teams Overall: 1303-1163 SU, 1120-1346 ATS
Favorites Overall: 1476-965 SU, 1111-1355 ATS
Home Favorites Overall: 934-603 SU, 655-890 ATS
Total Line: 1166 OVER, 1181 UNDER

The offseason will go in a flash and before we know it pitchers and catchers will be reporting in February. The 2020 season will be an interesting one indeed with many big names on the free-agent front. The National have the luxury of ‘most players coming back’ – they thought they were rebuilding! No matter who you may be rooting for, the Yankees, the Astros, the Dodgers, or the Orioles, there is one common denominator; win money. Take a look at the ROI rankings and how the season stacked up against the money trail.

1. Houston Astros

2020 World Series Odds: +600
Record: 117-63 SU and 96-84-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 2
Profit: $2,120.11 ROI: 78.52%

The Astros may have orchestrated the biggest meltdown in the history of sports. They certainly accomplished this feat in baseball. We had them dead at 0-2 but they showed up in DC and won threw in a row. We still looked good on our prediction of “Astros in 6”. The rest is history. This team will be back, they have too much talent to just go away. They made bettors a lot of money and will do the same next season.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers

2020 World Series Odds: +800
Record: 108-59 SU and 82-85-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 3
Profit: $2,544.74 ROI: 49.90%
The Dodgers did what they do best, fold in the playoffs. Never bet them in big games but bet them all season long for big profits.

3. New York Yankees

2020 World Series Odds: +600
Record: 108-63 SU and 99-72-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 1
Profit: $698.91 ROI: 26.88%

This Yankees team has the young hitting talent and a great bullpen, but they are aging in the rotation. They made money this year but may take a hit next. They need some pitching.

4. Minnesota Twins

2020 World Series Odds: +2500
Record: 101-64 SU and 88-77-0-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 5
Profit: $735.69 ROI: 18.39%

The Twins outperformed expectations with a fantastic year. This team is worth keeping as a top-5 for next season.

5. Atlanta Braves

2020 World Series Odds: +1200
Record: 99-68 SU and 85-82-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 4
Profit: $936.53 ROI: 16.43%

The Braves are jinxed! They are much like the Dodgers, they can’t perform in the playoffs, however, 90+regular season wins is worthy of betting.

6. Oakland Athletics

2020 World Series Odds: +3000
Record: 97-66 SU and 91-72-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 6
Profit: $528.78 ROI: 16.02%

The A’s are the surprise of the year. We knew they had some talent, but they are seriously talented. This could be a team destined for a great thing.

7. Tampa Bay Rays

2020 World Series Odds: +3000
Record: 99-69 SU and 83-85-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 7
Profit: $953.35 ROI: 14.90%

The Rays ended up having a stellar season, they need pitching and a nails bullpen, and they will battle next year and give the Yankees a run.

8. Cleveland Indians

2020 World Series Odds: +1500
Record: 93-69 SU and 88-76-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 8
Profit: $706.38 ROI: 14.72%

The Indians were not “bummy” but close. Keep them as a regular-season team but nothing more.

9. Washington Nationals

2020 World Series Odds: +1500
Record: 105-74 SU and 102-77-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 10
Profit: $666.58 ROI: 9.52%

The Nat’s are the world champions and here they are 9th on the rankings. This ranking is all about money, not rings. They had an amazing playoff run and fantastic pitching. This season will be next to impossible to duplicate.

10. St. Louis Cardinals

2020 World Series Odds: +2200
Record: 94-77 SU and 90-81-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 9
Profit: $428.59 ROI: 8.75%

The Cardinals folded like a rock. They need a lot of help in the rotation, the bullpen, and a pop or two in the lineup.

11. Milwaukee Brewers

2020 World Series Odds: +3000
Record: 89-74 SU and 82-81-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 12
Profit: $265.81 ROI: 5.91%

The Brewers had a winning season and kept the money positive but be careful. They seem like a team that could lose a step or two and that means a losing record next season.

12. New York Mets

2020 World Series Odds: +2500
Record: 86-76 SU and 82-80-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 14
Profit: $292.12 ROI: 5.41%

The Mets came storming back after a tough start to the season. New management, a few new acquisitions and they could surprise many next season. This is a team to keep a watch on.

13. Arizona Diamondbacks

2020 World Series Odds: +6600
Record: 80-76 SU and 90-72-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 16
Profit: $388.52 ROI: 5.25%

The D Backs are not awful, and they certainly came through on the run line. Next season will be interesting, and they should be counted as a team to play – especially the RL.

14. Boston Red Sox

2020 World Series Odds: +1200
Record: 84-78 SU and 69-93-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 13
Profit: $276.40 ROI: 4.85%

The Red Sox are not worth the stress unless they find some better pitching quick. They are old and beat up and need hitting as well.

15. Chicago Cubs

2020 World Series Odds: +2500
Record: 84-78 SU and 76-86-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 11

Record: 81-81 SU and 78-84-0 Rune Line
Previous Rank: 15

The Phillies broke even but made a late run. Harper did nothing for the morale of this team and frankly, he was probably the problem in Washington.

17. Texas Rangers

2020 World Series Odds: +8500
Record: 78-84 SU and 86-76-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 17
Profit: $33.01 ROI: 0.79%

The Rangers are a solid run line bet but nothing more. They are not worth 100/1 and should be 300/1.

Record: 77-85 SU and 80-82-0 Run Line

Record: 72-90 SU and 80-82-0 Run Line

Record: 71-91 SU and 73-89-0 Run Line

About the Author

Having lived in several different states I am never quite sure where I should say that I am from! I was born in WA. State. I did not grow up there. My family moved to Idaho when I was a young boy, where we lived for 11 years. As a result of my fathers occupation; I have had the privilage to experience many states and different cultures around the country.

I have lived in WA, OR, CA, ID, CO, KS, NY, MO, TX, FL, IN, NV, AZ, and Hawaii. I have also lived in Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. I have managed to visit or live in, 49 of our great states and travel extensively throughout Central America. My travels have taken me to such places as Sinaloa, Chiapas, Myan ruins in Guatemala, and many, many others.  I believe that I have had the honor to visit every Mexican state.

I am an English teacher by trade and love helping others improve thir lives through education. I have taught for institutions such as The University of Washington (Go Huskies) Berlitz, and a few other international language academies. I have obtained many degrees in the school of hard knocks, by way of old fashioned experience!  Such as driving taxi, working at McDonalds, working for giant retailers as well as giant casinos! A jack of all trades for sure.

I love sports! My passion is sports. I love talking about it, arguing about it, following and keeping up with the current state of affairs. Having lived in many places helps me connect with many different fan bases. As a writer, this is a real advantage to have. I can connect with a Yankees fan, or a Chargers fan.  I love it and I hope to continue to give readers a different perspective than the average, run of the mill story will give them.

As you read my stories; I hope you enjoy them. I hope they make you think, maybe make you happy and even make you mad! As you read further you may discover that over the years; I have been influenced by people such as Jim Rome, or Colin Cowherd. These are the kinds of folks that make me think and make me see sports differently.
