The trick with baseball is finding value on the best teams and following those teams all season long. This power ranking will be based on “against the spread” performance from week to week. In baseball, “the spread” is the “run line.” The money line is the straight up record. When a team wins a regular season game, they have just beaten the money line, but possibly, did not beat the run line.

This ranking is not a popularity contest or which team has the best lineup or the best rotation. This ranking is about beating the spread, (money line/run line). We will base this ranking from week to week on who has a better record against the spread and the team’s performance from a betting perspective. In baseball, this usually means that the best teams, with the best records, are the decisively better teams to bet on, however, there are exceptions.

1. Minnesota Twins

World Series Odds: +1400
Record: 36-16 SU and 30-22-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 3

The Twins haven’t missed a beat, literally. This team went 6-0 on the week and they are clearly in the driver’s seat in the AL, for that matter they’re in the driver's seat in all of MLB. This team is beating the ML as well as the RL. When a team is hot, bet them.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers

World Series Odds: +500
Record: 35-18 SU and 26-27-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 2

The Dodgers lost one game this week and ended with a sweep over the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The Pirates are not that special, so, we must be cautious on the RL, however, this team is winning and that means money!

3. Houston Astros

World Series Odds: +350
Record: 35-19 SU and 29-25-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 1

The Astros take a bit of a step back with three losses on the week. Have no fear, this team has the pitching and the hitting is fantastic.

4. New York Yankees

World Series Odds: +600
Record: 34-18 SU and 29-23-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 5

The Yankees are slowly but surely flexing their muscle and are clearly the best team in the AL East. They are still a great bet both way; ML, RL.

5. Tampa Bay Rays

World Series Odds: +1200
Record: 31-19 SU and 30-20-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 6

Tampa lost two games this week and keep getting better, unfortunately, they are dealing with the Yankees. In the end, the Yankees are the more talented team but continue keeping this team on your list of great bets.

6. Philadelphia Phillies

World Series Odds: +800
Record: 31-22 SU and 28-25-0 Rune Line
Previous Rank: 8

The Phillies wen 4-3 on the week and that’s better than many others. This team has the talent to win the NL East and are definitely a consistent winner against the money line.

7. Chicago Cubs

World Series Odds: +1200
Record: 30-21 SU and 25-26-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 7

The Cubs stay right here at number seven by default. After going 3-4 this past week one would think they would fall, but not so fast. There are other horses in this race and that matters here. Be careful with the Cubs, they can crown you king one night and make the Pope cuss the next!

8. Milwaukee Brewers

World Series Odds: +1400
Record: 30-24 SU and 28-26-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 4

The Brewers are hampered with inconsistent pitching and that kills the bettor. Bettors look for outstanding performances on the mound. The verdict is still out on this team, they are talented, but are they talented enough? Time will tell.

9. Atlanta Braves

World Series Odds: +1800
Record: 30-24 SU and 27-26-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 10

The Braves took care of business this week with 5 wins. This team has a lot of heart and the extra-inning effort on Sunday night just may set the tone for a great week ahead.

10. Arizona Diamondbacks

World Series Odds: +3300
Record: 28-25 SU and 32-21-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 9

The D Backs were not supposed to be this good, so cracking the top 10 on any ranking is a surprise. handicap well and you will win, either for or against this club.

11. Oakland Athletics

World Series Odds: +7500
Record: 28-25 SU and 26-27-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 18

“The A’s are not hitting well, and their pitching needs a house cleaning, but this always happens to this team. Bet against this week.” We have no problem calling ourselves on the carpet! We missed this one, bad! The A’s are playing rock-solid baseball and if it continues, they will give H Town a run for their money.

12. San Diego Padres

World Series Odds: +3500
Record: 28-25 SU and 26-27-0 Run line
Previous Rank: 16

“The Padres had a not so great week but who knows, maybe they put together a mini streak.” We also have no problem reminding you when we were on track. The Padres won 5 games last week and look as if they are for real.

13. Boston Red Sox

World Series Odds: +1000
Record: 28-25 SU and 22-31-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 14

The Red Sox had a solid week but still a shaky bet on the run line, they’re barely a good bet on the money line. We have said it for eight weeks; this team will figure it out, their much too talented to lay down.

14. St. Louis Cardinals

World Series Odds: +2000
Record: 26-26 SU and 28-33-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 12

The Cardinals are simply not there yet. We have no idea if they will ever get there and frankly, the bettors patience should be running thin.

15. New York Mets

World Series Odds: +2800
Record: 26-26 SU and 25-27-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 23

The Mets are a borderline disaster, they are certainly disaster waiting to happen. We can’t recommend betting them and would have to bet against them if pressed. They are winning half their games, that makes betting tough. Be careful.

16. Cleveland Indians

World Series Odds: +2200
Record: 26-26 SU and 24-28-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 11

The Indians won one lousy game all week and look as if they are running out of gas in May! Another team that simply too inconsistent to bet either way, for or against.

17. Texas Rangers

World Series Odds: +12500
Record: 25-25 SU and 30-20-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 19

The Rangers picked it up with 5 games against the run line. This team keeps it close so bet them when it matters.

18. Pittsburgh Pirates

World Series Odds: +4000
Record: 25-25 SU and 25-25-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 13

The Pirates looked awful against the Dodgers and even worse, they were swept at home. Stay away completely.

19. Colorado Rockies

World Series Odds: +6600
Record: 24-27 SU and 26-25-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 22

The Rockies won four games and looked better than worse this week, however, don’t be fooled, this team is lacking in every which way.

20. Los Angeles Angels

World Series Odds: +8000
Record: 24-28 SU and 29-23-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 17

2-6 won’t cut it, but it will if you bet against them. Do your homework and you can make some profit betting against—both ways.

21. Cincinnati Reds

World Series Odds: +15000
Record: 24-28 SU and 28-24-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 20

The Reds are not very good, but they did pick up three wins. They are not the bottom of the barrel but could be close.

22. Chicago White Sox

World Series Odds: +25000
Record: 23-29 SU and 23-29-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 21

The White Sox took five steps back with five losses. Bet against this team and stay faithful, you will come out the winner in the end.

23. Seattle Mariners

World Series Odds: +6000
Record: 23-32 SU and 27-28-0 Rune Line
Previous Rank: 15

“The Mariners are a big disappointment after the great start. Lay off betting for this team, they will get worse!” They went “o for the week”. Bet against the Mariners.

24. Washington Nationals

World Series Odds: +2800
Record: 22-31 SU and 22-31-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 26

The Nationals went 3-4 and have proven to be a team that the bettor can’t trust. Eve Harper wouldn’t have made that much of a difference. The Nationals should be on a “bet against” list.

25. San Francisco Giants

World Series Odds: +25000
Record: 21-31 SU and 22-30-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 24

The Giants are right back to being awful. They can’t stay in games and they certainly can’t win.

26. Toronto Blue Jays

World Series Odds: +15000
Record: 21-32 SU and 25-28-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 25

Oh for the long begone days of Joe Carter and the boys. Look on the bright side Toronto fans, you have Kawhi! It’s going to be a while before the Jays are competitive.

27. Detroit Tigers

World Series Odds: +30000
Record: 19-31 SU and 22-28-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 27

The Tigers stay right here, and they are still bummy. Don’t bet on this team.

28. Kansas City Royals

World Series Odds: +100000
Record: 18-34 SU and 26-26-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 28

The Royals beat the Yankees, and everyone has them winning the World Series! Come on folks, this team is horrible, keep betting against them. Be careful on the run line, they do keep games close.

29. Miami Marlins

World Series Odds: +100000
Record: 16-34 SU and 21-29-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 30

The Marlins were once thought of as the worst team in baseball but hold on; there is another stinker in the fray and it looks like Baltimore takes the cake. The Marlins are not going to get better so don’t assume you know what that makes us when we do!

30. Baltimore Orioles

World Series Odds: +100000
Record: 16-37 SU and 21-32-0 Run Line
Previous Rank: 29

The Orioles are a giant gift to the betting world, they lose so many games, this is simply too easy. Bet against them on the run line and win big money.
