Odds To Win The 2019 World Series After The All-Star
by Dave Schwab Scores & Statson
Coming off last week’s All-Star break, the race to this season’s MLB playoffs for a possible trip all the way to the 2019 World Series is in full swing. The top offshore sportsbooks have sharpened their pens to come up with the updated MLB futures odds to win this year’s Fall Classic. The following is a look at the best value in the numbers across a trio of these online sports betting venues.
Best MLB Betting Odds - Top Favorites
The Oddsmakers at Intertops online sportsbook have the Los Angeles Dodgers at the top of the list as +275 favorites. This makes all the sense in the world considering they have the best record in baseball at 63-33 through their first 96 games. The Dodgers are tied with Colorado for the top spot in the NL in total runs scored and they are averaging 5.4 runs a game. When it comes to pitching, they are in first place on their own with a staff ERA of 3.38.
Los Angeles has won the NL Pennant the past two seasons and it remains in excellent position to return to its third-straight World Series. The motivation factor alone to win it all this time adds even more value to its MLB futures odds.
The second-favorite on the list at BetAnySports offshore sportsbook is the New York Yankees at +300 betting odds. The Yankees have the best record in the American League at 59-33 through 92 games of a 162-game schedule. This is another well-balanced team that is positioned to go deep in this season’s playoffs. They have scored the third-most runs in the Majors (516) through Monday night’s results and New York’s pitching staff has a respectable 4.05 team ERA.
A Yankees vs. Dodgers dream matchup in this year’s World Series is more than realistic and probably worth betting on. At the very least, you should try and capitalize on New York’s +150 odds to win the AL Pennant.
Best MLB Betting Odds - Top Contenders
There are still a few teams that will have a strong say as far as the actual matchup in the 2019 World Series. The third-favorite to win it all on JazzSports MLB futures board is the Houston Astros at +400 odds. They are just two years removed from a World Series title in 2017 and sitting on a comfortable lead in the AL West at 59-36 through 95 games. Houston is a bit farther down the list in the AL in scoring, but this lineup is still knocking in an average of 5.2 runs a game. Pitching still wins championships and the Astros’ 3.94 staff ERA will keep them right in the mix with any team they would have to face in the postseason.
The odds start to drop off from there with the red-hot Atlanta Braves fourth on the list at +1000 betting odds. This could be the top-valued play right now. If the Braves keep playing the way they have the past month or so, this number will definitely come down. Through 95 games, Atlanta is 58-37 and it has created some breathing room in the NL East standings with an 8-2 run over its last 10 games.
Another team to watch in the AL is the Minnesota Twins at 58-34 in 92 games. They have a comfortable lead over Cleveland in the AL Central and the Twins’ betting odds to win the World Series are set at +1100. Minnesota may be overshadowed by New York and Houston in that pennant race, but neither one of those teams would look forward to facing the Twins in the postseason.
