The Toronto Blue Jays said Wednesday that they are looking into the recent arrest of catcher Reese McGuire.
McGuire, 24, was arrested last Friday for allegedly exposing himself while he was in an SUV in the parking lot of a strip mall in Dunedin, Fla., according to multiple reports. The team trains in Dunedin.
Sportsnet reported he was given a notice to appear in court on March 16.
"The Blue Jays are aware of the recent police incident involving catcher Reese McGuire," a team statement read. "He has been in communication with the club and we are working to gather more information. Out of respect for the legal process, neither he nor the club will comment any further at this time."
McGuire was selected No. 14 overall in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and was traded to the Blue Jays in 2016. He made his MLB debut on Sept. 6, 2018.
Since then, McGuire has appeared in 44 games, hitting .297 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs.
