The Cincinnati Reds activated utility man Derek Dietrich from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dietrich was sidelined with a left shoulder injury and last played in a major league game on Aug. 4.
Dietrich, 30, has smacked a career-best 19 homers this season, although 17 of those came by May 28. He is batting just .207 in 98 games while driving in 43 runs.
Dietrich fills the roster opening created Thursday when Cincinnati placed outfielder Jesse Winker (neck) on the 10-day IL. Winker, 26, is batting .269 with 16 homers and 38 RBIs in 113 games.
