Another week in the books for gamblers of the world and still no decision from the Supreme Court regarding legalized sports betting. Plenty of other things happening around the sports world as college basketball is set to crown their champion after a wild March Madness. MLB is off and running with opening day series coming to a close. The NBA and NHL are winding down their regular seasons ready to start playoff games in next few weeks.

March Madness No More

The madness will officially conclude as the championship will be decided as the red-hot Wolverines take on what most perceive as college basketball's best team in the Villanova Wildcats. The Wolverines sent the tournaments ultimate Cinderella in Loyola home while the Wildcats dismantled Kansas to show how truly dominant they can be. Another great tournament for the NCAA with plenty of excitement for everyone. Villanova is currently listed as a -6.5 point favorite with the total at 145.5.

Will The Supreme Court Decide?

Many had hoped a decision would be released in March but here we sit as the calendar turns to April still waiting. The beginning of April in the next few days is another great opportunity with many having April 2nd circled as a potential date. Will the Supreme Court rule against New Jersey finding their laws illegal and therefore having no grounds to repeal federal regulation? Will they kick it back to each state individually or will ban PASPA entirely?

Roger Goodell addressed the issue at the latest NFL owner's meeting and when asked referred to the league's position that it wants to make sure and maintain the integrity of the game. This is a change for the NFL as the normal company line is a statement that the league opposes expanded sports betting. This is the most obvious clue to the idea the NFL doesn't expect gambling to remain illegal outside of Nevada.

The NBA and MLB have teamed together to lobby on how they would want legalized sports betting to look. The league's lawyers are traveling state to state pitching their blueprint on how they would model this going forward. Have to imagine this "blueprint" puts themselves in a position to profit as much as possible. I've personally wanted to see gambling legalized for as long as I can remember but as we sit on the cusp I can't help but feel everyone's greed in the process is going to ruin the final product.

NBA Playoff Season is Almost Here

The NBA regular season is quickly winding down with most teams having just 6 games remaining before the playoffs begin. 16 teams will be gearing up for a playoff push while the rest are already making plans for vacations in the offseason.

A pile of injuries for the Golden State Warriors has opened the odds on who will win the championship. While the Warriors remain a slight favorite at -110 they are now joined near the top by the Houston Rockets at +130. The Cavs represent the East's best hope at +600 and they are followed by the Raptors at +750. With Steph Curry status up in the air almost anything is possible at this point.  Should make for an interesting postseason.

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

MLB is off and running their marathon 162 games regular season. And the first pitch thrown on opening day was?  Hit for a home run, Cubs Ian Happ hit a leadoff homer on the first pitch as the Cubs beat the Marlins 8-4 in the seasons first game. The odds really haven't changed much since opening day as the Astros are still the favorites to repeat at seasons end. It's a long season with tons that can happen so there are plenty of opportunities for value on various dogs.
