Duke improved an already strong 2020 recruiting class, receiving the commitment of five-star combo guard DJ Steward.

He announced his decision Wednesday on Twitter.

Only Kentucky has a higher-ranked class, per the 247Sports composite.

Steward, who plays at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, chose Duke over a number of regional and national programs, including North Carolina, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville and DePaul.

"I'll be heading to Duke University to play under Coach K," Steward said, per 247Sports. "Me and my family went on the visit this weekend, and it was amazing. We love the principles of Duke and how united Duke was as a program."

Steward joins two other five-star recruits: top-10 prospect forward Jalen Johnson (IMG Academy, Bradenton, Fla.) and point guard Jeremy Roach (Paul VI Catholic, Fairfax, Va.) in Duke's 2020 class.

Steward averaged 22.9 points per game in the Nike EYBL this summer.
