Iowa sophomore big man Jack Nunge will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during Sunday's victory over Cal Poly.
The 6-foot-11 Nunge was injured late in the first half while driving toward the basket. An MRI exam on Monday revealed the severity.
"All of us feel for Jack," Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery said in a news release. "This is an unfortunate setback for a young man who spent countless hours in the gym and weight room last year preparing for this season. Jack has the full support of his teammates and coaches during his recovery."
Nunge was averaging 6.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in five games.
Iowa is expected to seek a medical redshirt on Nunge's behalf to save a season of eligibility
