Top 100 prospect Ryan Mutombo has committed to Georgetown, following in the footsteps of his father, Dikembe Mutombo.
Ryan Mutombo announced his decision Sunday night in a 55-second video released on Twitter, which ended with him sporting a Georgetown shirt and an overlay that read "110 percent committed."
The Hoyas landed the legacy prospect but had to fight off a staunch challenge from Tennessee, according to reports. Ryan Mutombo was also considering Florida State, Stanford and Georgia.
The 6-foot-11 Mutombo is ranked 80th in the country in the Class of 2021, according to 247Sports' composite rankings, and the fourth best out of the state of Georgia. Mutombo averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for Lovett School in Atlanta.
Mutombo is the fourth 2021 commitment for coach Patrick Ewing's Hoyas, joining Tyler Beard, Jordan Riley and Jalin Billingsley.
Dikembe Mutombo was a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year at Georgetown under the late John Thompson. He is in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Ryan Mutombo's commitment ensures that sons of all three Hall of Fame Georgetown players went on to play for the Hoyas. The sons of Ewing and Alonzo Mourning also played at Georgetown.
