Cade Cunningham, the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2020, committed to Oklahoma State.
He made the announcement Tuesday night in a video posted to Instagram. He becomes the first five-star recruit to commit to the Cowboys since Marcus Smart in 2012.
Cunningham, a 6-foot-7 guard, is a Texas native who attends Montverde Academy in Florida. He also took official visits to Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and Washington.
His brother, Cannen, joined the staff of Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton in June.
"To be honest, I was this close to picking a different school, but blood is always thicker than water. Go Pokes," Cunningham said in the video.
Still, he said his commitment to Oklahoma State wasn't a slam dunk.
"When my brother took a job at Oklahoma State, most people assumed my decision had been made for me," Cunningham said. "But my family encouraged me to explore my options and make my own decision, based on what I feel is best for me."
The 247Sports composite lists Cunningham as the nation's top combo guard and just behind No. 1 overall prospect Evan Mobley, a 6-foot-11 center committed to Southern California. Cunningham already is projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft in at least one mock draft.
