Wake Forest freshman Tariq Ingraham will miss the 2019-20 season with a torn left Achilles tendon.
The 6-foot-9 forward sustained the injury in practice last Thursday and had surgery Friday, Demon Deacons head coach Danny Manning confirmed Monday.
"We are heartbroken that Tariq will miss his freshman season," Manning said in a news release. "He had worked so hard since arriving on campus this summer and had been having a great start to preseason practices. We know he will work hard to rehab from this injury over the upcoming months and will be ready to contribute next season."
A three-star recruit from Philadelphia, Ingraham had lost more than 20 pounds since arriving on campus in June. At Wake Forest's media day earlier this month, he said he was down to 260 and was excited about his improved conditioning, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Coming off an 11-20 finish in 2018-19, the Demon Deacons open the regular season on Nov. 6 at Boston College.
