Reports: Texas A&M WR Demond Demas arrested, suspended

Texas A&M suspended wide receiver Demond Demas following his arrest on a charge of assault family violence, according to reports Wednesday.

The Houston Chronicle reported Demas' arrest. He is alleged to have had a physical altercation with his girlfriend, who says he pushed her head into the wall, lifted her from the bed and threw her on the floor, according to a probable cause statement obtained by the Chronicle from the Brazos County Sheriff's Office.

"The injury caused bleeding, loose teeth, swelling and a hole to the bottom of the lip," per the report.

A university spokesperson confirmed to 247Sports that Demas no longer is with the team.

"Demond Demas has been suspended by the University," the spokesperson said. "Athletics is following all University protocols and procedures and he is not with our football program."

Demas was a five-star prospect in the Class of 2020 -- the nation's No. 3 wide receiver and the No. 25 overall prospect, as ranked by the 247Sports composite.

As a redshirt freshman in 2021, Demas appeared in eight games and caught 15 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown for the Aggies.
