We’ve previewed each of the AFC divisions the last several weeks.
In case you missed those articles, I predicted the Patriots will win the East, Ravens will win the North, Colts will win the South and the Chargers to win the West.
With this article, we’re going to look at
what teams will make it to the playoffs in the AFC. Out of my four division winners picks the only team with value in this market are the Ravens (+180) Odds and Prediction to Win the AFC West
Two teams will also make it to the playoffs as wild cards in the AFC. I’m going to predict who I expect to earn wild cards, but first, let’s take a look at the latest odds to make the 2019-20 NFL playoffs.
Odds to Make the 2019-20 NFL Playoffs By America's Bookie (AFC Teams)
New England Patriots: Will -900 / Won’t +600 ● Kansas City Chiefs: Will -400 / Won’t +325 ● Los Angeles Chargers: Will -230 / Won’t +190 ● Indianapolis Colts: Will -230 / Won’t +190 ● Cleveland Browns: Will -130 / Won’t +110 ● Pittsburgh Steelers: Will +105 / Won’t -125 ● Houston Texans: Will +155 / Won’t -175 ● Baltimore Ravens: Will +180 / Won’t -220 ● Jacksonville Jaguars: Will +260 / Won’t -320 ● Tennessee Titans: Will +300 / Won’t -360 ● New York Jets: Will +325 / Won’t -400 ● Denver Broncos: Will +450 / Won’t -600 ● Buffalo Bills: Will +425 / Won’t -550 ● Cincinnati Bengals: Will +700 / Won’t -1100 ● Oakland Raiders: Will +700 / Won’t -1100 ● Miami Dolphins: Will +1100 / Won’t -1700
There’s really no point betting the big favorites. For instance, a $900 bet on the Patriots only pays out $100 and you’d have to wait all season for the futures bet to cash.
Best Value Bets to Make the NFL Playoffs in the AFC
● Baltimore Ravens +180 to Make the Playoffs
The Ravens won six of their last seven regular season games last year. They should start right where they left off with wins against the Dolphins and Cardinals in the first two weeks of this season.
Lamar Jackson will run a lot less, but he should improve through the air. Baltimore drafted two WRs with their first three picks. They selected Marquise Brown (Pick #25) and Miles Boykin (Pick #93).
They lost three veteran LBs in Terrell Suggs, C.J. Mosley, and Za’Darius Smith, but I like the veterans they added, including RB Mark Ingram and S Earl Thomas.
This team is still built to run the football, eat the clock and play hard-nosed defense. They won’t be a top scoring team, but the Ravens have enough to win the AFC North and make the playoffs.
● Tennessee Titans +300 to Make the Playoffs
I expect the Titans to finish second in the AFC South and earn the second wild card. At 3/1 odds to make the playoffs, there’s definitely value and the Titans are in a make it or break it season.
Marcus Mariota needs to stay healthy and earn a contract extension this season. Tennessee brings back a strong run game (126.7 RYPG - 6th last season) and Derrick Henry will be a workhorse.
Odds and Prediction to Win the AFC South
Mariota has some new weapons in Adam Humphries and A.J. Brown. This team was injury-riddled last season and still won nine games. If the offense clicks, this team will be tough to beat.
The defense was top 10 last season and they could be even better this season. While I expect the Chiefs to earn the first wild card, there’s way more value betting on the Titans to make the playoffs.
AFC Teams That Will Make the 2019-20 NFL Playoffs
My best value bets are on the Ravens and Titans.
However, here are the six teams I have making the playoffs out of the AFC this upcoming season:
● New England Patriots - AFC East Winner
● Baltimore Ravens - AFC North Winner ● Indianapolis Colts - AFC South Winner ● Los Angeles Chargers - AFC West Winner ● Kansas City Chiefs - Wild Card ● Tennessee Titans - Wild Card Find all the NFL game previews and predictions
