Of the five college football conferences considered to be majors, the Pac-12 ranks at the bottom of the list in the national spotlight. The highest-ranked team in the final College Football Playoff rankings last season was Washington State at No. 10.

The Pac-12 team with the best futures odds at JazzSports online sportsbook to win this season’s national title is both the Washington Huskies and the Oregon Ducks at +4000. There are nine teams from other major conference plus Notre Dame as an independent listed higher on this list.

None the less, the race to this season’s Pac-12 title should be a good one with the following five teams boasting the best odds to win.

2019 Pac-12 Championship Odds

Washington Huskies +180

The Huskies remain the highest-profile team in this conference based on their recent accomplishments that included a trip to the four-team college football playoff in 2016. The only other team in this conference to go that far was Oregon in 2014. Head coach Chris Peterson has led his team to double-digit victories the past three seasons, but Washington is 0-3 straight-up in its last three bowl appearances.

A favorable schedule adds value to the Huskies winning the conference again this season with Oregon, Utah and Washington State at home. Back-to-back games against the Ducks on Oct. 19 and the Utes on Nov. 2 should go a long way towards deciding Washington’s fate.

Oregon Ducks +200

Oregon headed in the wrong direction since its playoff run in 2014 with four-straight seasons with nine or fewer wins. Mario Cristobal took over the reins as head coach in 2017 and following a 7-6 record that season, his team improved to 9-4 last year. The main plus for the Ducks this season is quarterback Justin Herbert. He is also the reason why they are second-favorites to win the Pac-12.

Working against the value in those odds is the road game against Washington in late-October. Oregon will face Auburn in its season opener as part of a tough nonconference schedule. It will also have to go on the road to play Stanford and USC as two of the better teams in the Pac-12.

Utah Utes +550

The main value in Utah as a third-favorite is playing in the much less competitive South Division. The Utes suffered back-to-back losses to Washington and Washington State to put them in an early hole last season before rallying to earn a trip to the title game in a rematch against the Huskies. They gave Washington all it could handle in a 10-3 loss and Utah does have a clear path back to the championship game this season. Of the top five teams on the list, the Utes could be worth a small play as a value pick in the Pac-12.

Washington State Cougars +700

The Cougars matched Washington at 7-2 in conference play last season, but a 28-15 loss to their bitter rivals in the season finale as three-point home favorites ended their North Division title hopes. Along with the Huskies on the road this season on Nov. 29, Washington State is on the road against Utah in late September and on the road against Oregon on Oct. 26. That gauntlet could be just too tough a run to win the North this time around.

USC Trojans +800

USC is coming off a losing 5-7 record in 2018 that included a 4-5 record in conference play. It started to look like this program was back on the path to national prominence before last year’s major step backwards. Clay Helton enters his fourth full-time season as head coach and he is firmly on the hot seat following 21 wins against just six losses in his first two campaigns. The Trojans have a decent shot to end up above .500, but they are not strong enough to get past the top teams in the North.
