Two days after in-person recruiting was banned, the NCAA also suspended any signing of a national letter of intent for the next month, it announced on Sunday.
Both bans, spurred by the coronavirus pandemic, will last through at least April 15, with a reevaluation coming on or before that date. Any letters of intent signed Sunday or earlier will proceed as normal.
The signing period for Division I football began Feb. 5 and was scheduled to run through April 1. It will now be extended 30 days from the time the ban is lifted.
Division I basketball's signing period is scheduled to run from April 15 until May 20, but that could be changed upon reevaluation.
The recruiting ban does not apply to phone calls or written correspondence.
