Here are this week's ranking and team updates. Your comments are always welcome.
Odds:+1600 Record: 9-6 SU and ATS Last Week's Rank: 7th
Baltimore's win at the Chargers on a short week and traveling cross-country was the most impressive feat team of Week 16. After blowing a chance to reach the postseason last year, hard to imagine the Ravens screw up at home to Cleveland.
Odds:+1200 Record: 11-4 SU and ATS Last Week's Rank: 5th
After doing what was needed to win at San Francisco, the Bears realize the chances of reaching No.2 seed are slim, needing the Rams to lose to 49ers. We will learn something about coach Matt Nagy and see how aggressive he is at Minnesota with a home game coming in the playoffs.
Odds:+4000 Record: 8-6-1 SU and 8-6-1 ATS Last Week's Rank: 6th
A terrible decision by coach Tomlin on fake punt left the door open for New Orleans to take the lead and Pittsburgh turnovers did the rest. A vastly underachieving team needs a win against the Bengals and Baltimore to be upset at home to Cleveland to win AFC North and make playoffs.
Odds:+1400 Record: 11-4 SU and 9-6 ATS Last Week's Rank: 4th
A shockingly bad showing at home against Baltimore casts some doubt about just how truly good the Chargers are despite their record. No reason to extend themselves to hard at Denver with a trip back East somewhere next weekend.
Odds:+650 Record: 10-5 and 8-7 ATS Last Week's Rank: 11th
New England went through the motions and beat Buffalo in a non-cover. That was still good enough to help the Patriots move up to the No.2 seed and a triumph over the Jets at home means two weeks off for the Pats.
Odds:+2500 Record: 10-5 SU and 6-6-3 ATS Last Week's Rank: 10th
The vaunted Houston defense could not make a stop when they needed it most and essentially lost the No.2 seed in the AFC with a last-second loss at Philadelphia. The Texans have to beat Jacksonville at home this week or they could lose the AFC South too and become a Wild Card team.
Odds:+4000 Record: 9-6 SU and ATS Last Week's Rank: 13th
For the third time, Marcus Mariota suffered a stinger to his right elbow. He will probably play Sunday, but if he cannot, does anyone really like Blaine Gabbert vs. Andrew Luck in an all-or-nothing confrontation?
Odds:+3500 Record: 9-6 SU and 8-7 ATS Last Week's Rank: 12th
Indianapolis was flat against the Giants but awoke just in the nick of time to beat New York by one. That sets up playoff showdown with Tennessee, with the winner advancing and the loser missing out on continuing their season.
Odds:+5000 Record: 8-7 and 6-8-1 ATS Last Week's Rank: 15th
The late-season legend of Nick Foles continues to grow after come from behind win over Houston. With a victory over Washington a loss by Minnesota, Philadelphia would have an opportunity to defend their Super Bowl title.
Odds:Find them here Record: 6-8-1 SU and 6-9 ATS Last Week's Rank: 17th
Aaron Rodgers took Green Bay from arguably its worst defeat of the season to another unbelievable OT win over the Jets. With the Lions already in hibernation, the Packers at least close the season with two wins.
With no Cam Newton, it is a formality that Carolina will fall at New Orleans. The only real question about the Panthers is will coach Ron Rivera survive "Black Monday" with his team on an eight-game losing streak?
Odds:Find them here Record: 5-10 SU and 8-7 ATS Last Week's Rank: 18th
Detroit was in position to virtually end Minnesota's playoff chances, after dominating nearly the entire first half, but having just a 9-0 lead. A Vikings touchdown, followed by a Hail Mary pass answered and the Lions gave up in the second half. Almost impossible to think Detroit will be inspired for a contest at Green Bay.
Odds: Find them here Record: 7-7-1 SU and 9-6 ATS Last Week's Rank: 22nd
Cleveland has a chance for its first winning season since 2007. Every Browns fan wants it and it would be even sweeter if they knocked Baltimore out the playoffs in there building after prior owner skipped town and went the land of crab cakes and left Cleveland without a team.
Odds:Find them here Record: 5-10 SU and 9-6 ATS Last Week's Rank: 24th
The New York Giants had Indianapolis beat but failed to seal the deal. The G-Men close out the season at home against Dallas, who figures to play as many backups as possible. Is this Eli Manning's last Giants start?
Give Washington credit for not giving up at Tennessee and taking the game late in the fourth quarter before falling. Do not be surprised if they do the same thing with the rival Eagles at their place to finish the year.
Odds:Find them here Record: 5-10 SU and 6-9 ATS Last Week's Rank: 29th
LeSean McCoy's time in Buffalo looks to have expired and rookie QB Josh Allen has given no indication he's anything more than a good athlete with a strong (not accurate) arm. The Bills will have shot at beating Miami at home.
At best Ryan Tannehill is a mediocre starting QB in the NFL. But when his offensive line has more holes in its pass protection than a golf course, that's a problem. The warm weather Dolphins should love Buffalo this Sunday.
Odds:Find them here Record: 3-12 SU and 6-9 ATS Last Week's Rank: 32nd
With a likely GM change in the desert, it looks like Steve Wilks will be a one and done head coach. The only reasonable question about Arizona otherwise is; "With the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select...."
