Short underdogs continue to shine and home underdogs are off the charts with nearly a third of the season completed. Though it is only four games, it's odd the home team has won all four Pick contests.

Favorites: 10-4 SU and 7-6-1 ATS (Season: 47-25-2 SU and 32-39-3 ATS)
Favorite of 7 or more: 2-0 SU and 1-1 ATS (Season: 11-5 SU and 7-8-1 ATS)
Favorites of 3 or less: 2-1 SU and 1-1-1 ATS  (Season: 14-13-2 SU and 11-16-2 ATS)
Home Underdogs: 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS (Season: 7-5-2 SU and 12-2 ATS)
Pick Games: Home team 4-0 ATS

This all leads to our score-based Power Ratings, which is new this season. These type of ratings are based not only on records but on how teams did against the point spread, which gives us a broader view when it comes to understanding the strengths of a team when making lines.

Here are this week's ranking and team updates. Your comments are always welcome.

1. Los Angeles Rams

Odds: -300
Record: 5-0 SU and 3-1-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 1st

The Rams were really tested last week at Seattle and came through with a victory. There are emerging defensive concerns about L.A. after giving up 62 points in the last two weeks. It's best against the worst in our power ratings.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Odds: +600
Record: 5-0 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 2nd

Kansas City dominated a good Jacksonville team and generated five turnovers. A victory at New England Sunday proves this bunch is for real.

3. New Orleans Saints

Odds: +900
Record: 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 4th

It was Drew Brees' party on Monday night and he got to celebrate it with all of his friends in the bayou. New Orleans is back on track and has the week off.

4. Minnesota Vikings

Odds: +1200
Record: 2-2-1 SU and 2-2-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 7th

Minnesota won at Philly, yet is 25th against the pass and is 29th running the ball. They should have a chance to improve both stats at home versus Arizona.

5. New England Patriots

Odds: +650
Record: 3-2 and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 9th

New England is showing signs of returning to normal but beating Miami and Indianapolis are not true tests. We find out a lot when they host Kansas City.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers

Odds: +2000
Record: 2-2-1 SU and 2-3 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 13th

The Steelers finally played four quarters and ambushed Atlanta. In spite of their slow start, Pittsburgh puts themselves right back in the AFC North chase with a triumph at Cincy.

7. Cincinnati Bengals

Odds: +2200
Record: 4-1 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 10th

Cincinnati showed they might be a different squad this year. Instead of digging a 17-0 hole versus Miami and jumping in it, they fought back and rang up 27 unanswered points for the win. The Bengals can take control of AFC North by beating Pittsburgh this Sunday. One problem, they are 5-23 and 7-20-1 ATS when hosting the Steelers lately.

8. Carolina Panthers

Odds: +2200
Record: 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 8th

Carolina was cruising against the Giants and was fooled by Beckham to Barkley pass and found a near miracle to win. They will need to be sharper to win at Washington this week.

9. Los Angeles Chargers

Odds: +2000
Record: 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 11th

Facing Oakland and Cleveland should present the Chargers with the chance to build a little momentum heading towards the middle of the season. Can they complete the back half of the process?

10. Baltimore Ravens

Odds: +2500
Record: 3-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 3rd

After looking so good against Pittsburgh, Baltimore did not play with same passion or execution level and lost to Cleveland. Ravens better be ready for Tennessee, whose as frustrated as they are Sunday.

11. Detroit Lions

Odds: +6600
Record: 2-3 SU and 4-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 15th

Lions got a much-needed win at home against the Packers and can enjoy the off week before playing three of the next four outside of Michigan.

12. Green Bay Packers

Odds: +2500
Record: 2-2-1 SU and 2-3 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 6th

The only good thing for Green Bay was the game ended in Detroit and they could go home. Once again the Packers were not sharp and Mason Crosby had a kicker's nightmare. The Pack needs complete performance on Monday before the bye week.

13. Jacksonville Jaguars

Odds: +1400
Record: 3-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 5th

Any thoughts that Blake Bortles has but his past picks' problems behind him are inaccurate. The Jaguars have the defense to contain Dallas this week, but the offense cannot place them in impossible situations.

14. Philadelphia Eagles

Odds: +2000
Record: 2-3 and 1-4 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 12th

Last season is fading into a distant memory for the Super Bowl champs. Week 6 is usually when the champions realize opposing teams do not care about your ring and just want to beat you. Playing at the Giants on a short week offers the Eagles a real opportunity.

15. Seattle Seahawks

Odds: +8000
Record: 2-3 and 2-2-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 17th

Great effort by Seattle, but they came up two points short to the Rams. By committing to the run, the Seahawks are a better team and they have not turned the rock over in three outings. Do the same against Oakland and Seattle is .500.

16. Chicago Bears

Odds: +1800
Record: 3-1 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 18th

Loads of love on Chicago talk radio for Da Bears during their bye week. It's back to work for Chicago and their newfound aggressive approach and let's see how they react as a road favorite in Miami.

17. Tennessee Titans

Odds: +6600
Record: 3-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 16th

We told you here last week Tennessee better come ready to play at Buffalo. The Titans did not and had only 221 yards of offense and gave the pigskin away three times. Good news; Tennessee is 12-3 ATS after one or more losses.

18. Houston Texans

Odds: +5000
Record: 2-3 SU and 1-3-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 22nd

With Tennessee and Jacksonville falling last week, with another victory, Houston is back to .500 and has momentum on their side. Taking care of business versus Buffalo is a must.

19. Dallas Cowboys

Odds: +5000
Record: 2-3 SU and 2-2-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 20th

Owner Jerry Jones questioned his coach about OT punt, as Dallas lost in OT at Houston. The pressure is mounting in Big D on everyone, but multiple years of weak draft picks from the third round out are showing up. An upset of the Jaguars will cool everything off unless the Boys lose.

20. Atlanta Falcons

Odds: +6600
Record: 1-4 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 14th

Dan Quinn was hired to fix the Atlanta defense because the offense was in place. After making progress his second-year, where the Falcons should have the Super Bowl, the stop-troops are going backward. Injuries are a big part, but the backups they kept are not doing the job. Must win vs. Tampa Bay.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Odds: +10000
Record: 2-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 23rd

Tampa Bay gets back to work and will have its suspended regular quarterback running the team and the backup, who got his 15 minutes of unabashed fame, is back on the sidelines. The Bucs better have found answers for worst-rated pass defense going to Atlanta.

22. New York Jets

Odds: +15000
Record: 2-3 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 29th

Gang Green fans hope they got a glimpse of the future in the drubbing of Denver, with big play after big play. It's not going to happen every week for the Jets, but they could have more versus the Colts at home.

23. Cleveland Browns

Odds: +8000
Record: 2-2-1 SU and 4-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 29th

Cleveland is .500 for the first time since Week 4 of the 2015 season. Can the Browns beat the Chargers for the second time in 24 games?

24. Washington Redskins

Odds: +6600
Record: 2-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 19th

Washington got down early in New Orleans and never put up a fight. The Redskins have to stop the run to win and they take on the NFL's top rushing team this week in Carolina.

25. New York Giants

Odds: +10000
Record: 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 25th

A trick play got the Giants offense in gear in Carolina and only the second-longest field goal made could keep them from winning. No reason for New York to be down with Philadelphia on deck at home Thursday.

26. San Francisco 49ers

Odds: +20000
Record: 1-4 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 21st

So much for San Francisco being a playoff contender. Jimmy G or not, this was an overrated squad that was 1-10 and found magic last season without having the necessary talent. Good luck in the land of cheese.

27. Miami Dolphins

Odds: +12500
Record: 3-2 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 24th

Miami had a 17-0 lead at Cincinnati and collapsed like a folding chair in permitting 27 straight unanswered points to the Bengals. Getting well against a rested Chicago bunch seems like a reach.

28. Indianapolis Colts

Odds: +15000
Record: 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 26th

To the Colts credit, they never quit at New England and actually outgained them by a single yard in losing by 14 points and failing to cover. If Indianapolis can avoid committing two or more turnovers like they have four times this season, they could win at the Jets.

29. Buffalo Bills

Odds: +20000
Record: 2-3 SU and ATS
Last Week's Rank: 31st

Buffalo beat another strong team in coming from behind to stun Tennessee. The Bills are last in scoring and passing, but the defense is forcing turnovers against like last year. They will have to play defense at Houston.

30. Arizona Cardinals

Odds: +30000
Record: 1-4 SU and 3-2 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 32nd

Last week it was the other team making all the second half miscues, not Arizona, as they got their first win. A tough back-end of a road trip at Minnesota this week.

31. Oakland Raiders

Odds: +20000
Record: 1-4 SU and 1-3-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 28th

Derek Carr has eight interceptions, which is already two more than he has in all of 2016. Oakland is not blessed with the talent to overcome numerous mistakes. It's off to London to face Seattle.

32. Denver Broncos

Odds: +8000
Record: 2-3 SU and 0-4-1 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 27th

One week after almost upsetting Kansas City, the Denver defense is torched for 34 points and 512 yards by a below average New York Jets team. All they have this week is the L.A. Rams!
