NFL 2019 Regular Season Player Props: Most Receiving Yards
by Dave Schwab Scores & Statson
Everyone knows that wide receivers are the ultimate prima donnas of the NFL. Their loyalties oftentimes lean towards their own personal stats rather than the fortunes of their team. This is what makes betting on the NFL player prop for most receiving yards in the 2019 regular season so much fun.
NFL 2019 Regular Season Most Receiving Yards: Top-Valued Favorites
When you consider that Atlanta Falcons’ veteran quarterback Matt Ryan is one of the top favorites to pass for the most yards in the 2019 NFL regular season, that only adds more value to his top target Julio Jones as a +600 favorite to post the most receiving yards.
Another big plus is the 1,677 receiving yards he posted last season to end up at the top of the list. Jones was second to Antonio Brown in 2017 with 1,444 total yards and second to TY Hilton the season before with 1,409 receiving yards. This is the type of consistency you can bank on. The fact that he will have Ryan throwing him the ball again in 2019 seals the deal for me as the top-valued play on the board.
The Houston Texans’ No. 1 wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is second on the list at +700 betting odds. With a healthy Deshaun Watson throwing him the ball last season, Hopkins hauled in 115 receptions for 1,572 total receiving yards as the second-most on the list.
This explosive duo should be able to put up some big numbers this season, but I still see Hopkins chasing Jones for that top spot on the list. That is not to say that Hopkins cannot catch him 2019, I just do not see all that much value in his current odds to bet on him getting it done.
NFL 2019 Regular Season Most Receiving Yards: Top-Valued Contenders
Michael Thomas is third on the list at +800 and I do like the value in his odds. As the top target for New Orleans’ veteran quarterback Drew Brees, you know that he is going to be a factor in this race. Thomas was sixth on the list in 2018 with 1,405 receiving yards on an NFL-high 125 receptions.
The simple fact that he caught that many passes in an offense that also featured Alvin Kamara running and catching the ball gives Thomas some major upside potential for the 2019 season.
Bettors might be tempted to go with Odell Beckham Jr. at +1000 betting odds with his move to Cleveland. He now has second-year quarterback Baker Mayfield throwing him the ball coming off a very productive rookie campaign. All the hype and high expectations surrounding this new pass-catching tandem appears to be just too high to live up to in their first season together.
Beckham Jr. may make some of the most spectacular catches for the Browns this season, but he will not catch enough balls to tally the most receiving yards in the NFL.
NFL 2019 Regular Season Most Receiving Yards: Top-Valued Play at Longer Odds
Pittsburgh’s JuJu Smith-Schuster is an interesting play at +1200 odds. He is now the main man in the Steelers’ passing offense with Antonio Brown playing for Oakland. You already know that Ben Roethlisberger is going to throw for his fair share of yards. These two hooked up 111 times in 2018 for 1,426 receiving yards which was fifth on the final list. These numbers should increase this season, but the one concern is the added attention Schuster is going to get without Brown also roaming the secondary for Pittsburgh.
