NFL 6-Point Teasers For Your Betting Arsenal - Wild Card Playoffs
by Doug Upstone Scores & Statson
NFL teasers become harder now with fewer games and increased competition between the battling teams, with the stakes this high. In essence, what that really means is we have to work a little harder to try and find the right NFL picks.
For the year we closed strong at 49-22 for the season and 36-14 the last 12 weeks and secured a nice overall profit on various teaser plays.
Here is a look at the teaser combinations for the NFL Wild Card Playoffs this weekend. These NFL odds are courtesy of Intertops.
A month ago, Indianapolis came into Houston and won 24-21, lifting them to 12-5 SU at Houston. With the Texans a two-point favorite and the Colts winners of eight of nine, we are able to buy Indy at +8.5 for this teaser and maintain our ability to use key numbers in our favor. At this price, we can take Andrew Luck and the Colts past the 3, 6 and 7, which is great value in what the sportsbooks are saying should be a very competitive contest. With four of the last five conflicts having ended below the oddsmaker's total, we will follow suit on this teaser.
Dallas at last look was a 2.5-point favorite and given the history of both teams on teasers, you probably could win with either team. However, the Cowboys were a strong 7-1 SU at home this season and did not play like the weak-minded team like they often were in this situation. Like the idea of pushing Dallas up to +3.5 and having the hook going in our favor in what should be a close game. Again, nothing wrong with taking the Seahawks, just a personal opinion. The total of 43.5 is up quite a bit from September meeting that closed at 39.5, with Seattle a 24-13 winner. Dallas is a better offensive team now and the Seahawks are 52-7 OVER the teaser total after a two-game homestand.
Once again we have a very tight opening spread with Baltimore at -2.5 over the Los Angeles Chargers. With the Ravens having won in Carson, CA just two weeks ago and now at home, Baltimore would seem a solid pick at +3.5 on the teaser line. Plus, we have used John Harbaugh's club quite a bit and won with them this season. Yet, with Chargers this small of a road underdog, the Bolts are appealing at +8.5. We also have to consider Philip Rivers and company is 8-1 SU in away games this season. In addition, they just faced this unusual Baltimore offense and should have a better beat on it. Rookie QB's like Lamar Jackson are 9-12 SU in the playoffs since 2000. Look for more points than 35 in this confrontation and take the OVER on teaser.
With Chicago a 5.5-point home favorite, the defending Super Bowl champs are at least intriguing at +11.5. But this is about winning and it is hard to come up with many reasons why Philadelphia could win this tilt outright. That is why just taking the Bears to win the game with the better squad, healthier team and at home, which makes the most sense. As far as the total, in a home/road scenarios this season, but Chicago and the Eagles were in the 45 to 46 total points range, making the OVER 35 the safer choice.
