Brittany Lincicome announced that she and husband Dewald Gouws welcomed their first child, Emery Reign Gouws, on Monday.
Lincicome, 33, announced her pregnancy in February and has since taken a leave from the LPGA Tour. She was on her way to play in the Rockford ProAm in Illinois on Monday when she went into labor eight weeks early.
Lincicome, who had flown to Chicago on Sunday, gave birth at Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside.
"So our little bundle of joy decided she didn't want to wait anymore to make her grand entrance," she posted on Instagram. "I flew to Chicago for an outing yesterday and she came today at 3:50pm. She is exactly 8 weeks early. So we need some prayers for her. So far she is doing awesome."
Lincicome, who suffered a miscarriage last year, announced that Emery Reign was born at 4 pounds, 11 ounces and required oxygen overnight.
"She is doing great," Lincicome posted Tuesday. "They took her off oxygen this morning. Which is a great sign. Still in need of prayers she keeps progressing and we get to go home sooner rather then later"
Lincicome has not announced her plans for returning to competition, but a new LPGA Tour policy means that she will begin next season with the same status she had when she took her maternity break.
