There has never been a better time than now, to bet on the NHL. The Underdogs are still hot and there are more than a few playoff surprises in the works. Tampa is once again at the top of their game, Toronto is playing well, Boston, very well… The Blue Jackets, the Sharks, and even the St. Louis Blues are all upping their stock. Not only is their playoff stock rising, but their betting stock is also rising greatly, and that’s what matters.

In the NHL, there are more than a few teams that come in from week to week as a “don’t touch” bet. These are the teams that simply have no value either way. Some of the teams may be on the rise and some may have fallen off but there are many that are simply not worth the risk. Be sure and take a close look at the middle teams that have no value and lay-off of them entirely.

Every fan wants to know where their team stands and if their team deserves attention from a betting standpoint. Can you find value and if so why? What these rankings are meant to do, is show betting fans the current state-of-affairs for each NHL team. This weekly power ranking is not based on the popularity of the team and not necessarily based on record. Although the record is a factor; the money lines from the oddsmakers are a much more important factor. What those teams did for the week against the money line is the ultimate deciding factor in the NHL weekly-betting power ranking.

We hope that you enjoy the weekly ranking and we welcome your feedback and any comments that you may have. Remember, these power rankings are for the current week in the NHL and they are not individual game previews. These rankings are meant to show overall betting-performance.

1. Tampa Bay Lightning

Odds: +325
Record: 43-11-4 SU and 39-15 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 1st

The Lightning continues to dominate, they continue their hot streak and they pick up three games against the spread this week. There is simply not a better hockey team on the planet than the Tampa Bay Lightning.

2. Toronto Maple Leafs

Odds: +700
Record: 36-18-3 SU and 36-21 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 3rd

The Maple Leafs took it to more than a few people this week including a big win in Vegas. The true grit of this team has shown itself and don’t be sucked in by the naysayers that continue to knock this teams heart.

3. Winnipeg Jets

Odds: +900
Record: 36-19-3 SU and 34-22 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 4th

The Jets have lost one and are 5-4-1 in the last ten games. They are not the sexy favorite as Tampa, but they are tough and continue to find ways to score and continue to lead the Western Conference Central with 75 points.

4. Calgary Flames

Odds: +700
Record: 34-16-7 SU and 34-23 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 2nd

The Flames hit the skids this week with four straight losses but still come in with 75 points and still have the same talented team. They will get back on track.

5. San Jose Sharks

Odds: +1000
Record: 34-17-7 SU and 34-24 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 5th

The Sharks are staying right here, however, they had a great week and continue to get better. At 6-4-0 over the last ten games, expect great things going forward.

6. Columbus Blue Jackets

Odds: +2200
Record: 32-21-3 SU and 32-24 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 7th

The Blue Jackets move up one despite the loss against the up and coming Islanders. We are patient with Columbus, very patient! This team has shown much more positive than negative and we think they are staying right here for the long haul.

7. Nashville Predators

Odds: +1000
Record: 34-21-5 SU and 34-21 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 6th

The Predators are 6-4-1 in the last ten and with 1 win under their belt coming in this week. Don’t forget who this team is and where they have been. Just as with the Washington Capitals; taste victory once, you want it again. Nashville is two back of the Jets with 73 points and they will be pushing it, count on it.

8. New York Islanders

Odds: +1600
Record: 34-17-6 SU and 31-23 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 10th

The Islanders are even better than we thought, and they have proved us all wrong this year. This team is hot and scoring a ton of goals and playing terrific defense with 136 goals against. Bet the unders.

9. Boston Bruins

Odds: +1800
Record: 32-17-8 SU and 31-25 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 11th

The Bruins move up the ladder very nicely with three straight wins and have leapfrogged the Canadiens with 72 points for the third spot in the Eastern Conference, Atlantic Division. Another great “under” with 148 allowed.

10. Washington Capitals

Odds: +1800
Record: 32-19-7 SU and 29-26 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 13th

The Caps are back in the top 10 and it makes sense, they’re the champions! With a four-point lead over Columbus and a bit of a hot streak going, bet the overs. They score a pile and give up a pile.

11. Montreal Canadiens

Odds: +2000
Record: 31-19-7 SU and 29-26 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 11th

The Canadiens have lost two in a row but have also gone 6-2-2 in the last ten games. They are doing just enough to keep things interesting and with 14 wins on the road, search them out as a road dog or even road favorite.

12. St. Louis Blues

Odds: +3300
Record: 29-22-5 SU and 29-27 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 16th

St. Louis wins again! This team is easily the hottest team in the NHL with an 8-game winning streak and a 9-1-0 record in the last 10. This team has shown they have heart and they desperately want to win. Bet them on the road, with 15 victories, that’s where the money is.

13. Pittsburgh Penguins

Odds: +2000
Record: 30-20-7 SU and 29-27 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 14th

The Penguins have scored 194 goals this season but unfortunately, have allowed 174. The only reason they have not dropped further down the ranking is two wins in a row, it saved their ATS record.

14. Vegas Golden Knights

Odds: +1600
Record: 31-24-4 SU and 29-28 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 9th

The Knights have no idea how to buy a win right now and have been worked by everybody including Arizona. If that wasn’t enough, Toronto came to town and dropped six on them. We are not ready to throw in the towel on this season, but close.

15. Dallas Stars

Odds: +2800
Record: 29-23-5 SU and 29-28 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 12th

The Stars did exactly what they do best, surprise us all with some very nice wins, and then get blasted by the Lightning! They put together a decent week despite the beatdown, but it’s simply not enough to sustain the number 12 spot.

16. Carolina Hurricanes

Odds: +3300
Record: 29-22-6 SU and 28-28 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 15th

The Canes are playing much better of late with a 7-2-1 run and looking to continue their hot scoring. This team is a worthy look at the puck line, as well as the over.

17. Minnesota Wild

Odds: +4000
Record: 27-25-5 SU and 26-30 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 17th

The Wild have lost two in a row and have managed .500 for the last week. This team is destined to stay right there in the middle of the pack.

18. Buffalo Sabres

Odds: +3300
Record: 28-21-7 SU and 22-27 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 19th

The Sabres turned their week around and look much better this week, then last. Love this team as a home dog.

19. Philadelphia Flyers

Odds: +6600
Record: 26-24-7 SU and 24-31 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 20th

The Flyers are once again 8-1-1 in their last ten games and picking up steam. They have found a scoring rhythm but wow, do they get beat up on the rack with 190 against. Run with the over.

20. Arizona Coyotes

Odds: +10000
Record: 25-27-5 SU and 23-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 23rd

The Coyotes found a big win in Vegas but it’s not enough. This team plays good defense and their games go under with frequency, however, they can’t score, and in the NHL, you must score, or you lose!

21. Vancouver Canucks

Odds: +6600
Record: 26-26-7 SU and 23-33 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 18th

The Canucks are 4-5-1 in the last ten games and keep losing ground. The inevitable has happened and we knew it would. With 185 goals against, this team is a great puck line bet-against.

22. Chicago Blackhawks

Odds: +8000
Record: 24-25-9 SU and 23-34 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 25th

The Blackhawks are furious with losing and they refuse to lay down. This team would be dangerous if they weren’t so far in the hole. They have suddenly, become a great bet. Watch them closely, they are still the Chicago Blackhawks!

23. Colorado Avalanche

Odds: +5000
Record: 23-23-11 SU and 23-24 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 21st

How low can the Av’s go is the unfortunate question of the day in Denver, thank God for Joe Flaco and the Nuggets, heck, even the Rockies! The Av’s simply bring no scoring value at 186 goals for and 189 against.

24. Florida Panthers

Odds: +10000
Record: 24-24-8 and 21-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 26th

The Panthers have won six of their last ten games but get scored on way too easily. This team is another great ‘over the total”.

25. Edmonton Oilers

Odds: +8000
Record: 24-27-5 SU and 21-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 22nd

The Oilers continue their slide down the rabbit hole and their season is all but a loss. Everyone wants out and that shows a lack of character and a lack of heart.

26. Los Angeles Kings

Odds: +15000
Record: 23-28-6 SU and 21-34 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 24th

The Kings are no longer the great bet at a whopping +25000 to win it all! In fact, the number has fallen by 10K to +15000. There is always an outside chance, but things are not looking that promising for sneaking in.

27. Detroit Red Wings

Odds: +25000
Record: 23-28-7 SU and 21-35 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 28th

The Red Wings have put together a nice streak of two straight wins and having gone 5-5 in the last ten. That’s progress. We don’t expect Detroit to maintain this.

28. Ottawa Senators

Odds: +50000
Record: 21-31-5 SU and 21-36 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 27th

Ottawa is still a disaster and they have now given up 208 goals on the season. Bet the over and ride the puck line against this team.

29. New Jersey Devils

Odds: +25000
Record: 21-28-8 SU and 20-36 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 29th

The Devils have lost two in a row and continue their slide to the bottom of the barrel. With 199 goals against, focus on the opponents strength and bet accordingly.

30. Anaheim Ducks

Odds: +10000
Record: 22-26-9 SU and 19-35 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 30th

“The Ducks just keep free falling and it’s ugly. This team had a lot of promise and hope coming into this season. Bet against them with the puck line, the over and period betting, they win very few periods.” There is simply nothing more to say, they continue to lose and now find themselves at number 30.

31. New York Rangers

Odds: +15000
Record: 24-24-8 SU and 18-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 31st

The Rangers are not going to make the playoffs for one reason; just as last year, they have lost their heart. They can’t score, they give up a pile, and they are not very talented. They need a star, and a coach, and a front office, and, and, and… It’s a shame the largest sports market in the US can’t find a way to put together a winning NHL team.
