The Colorado Avalanche signed goaltender Justus Annunen to a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday.
Annunen, a 20-year-old from Finland, was draft in the third round (64th overall) by Colorado in 2018. He is now under contract through 2022-23.
Playing for Karpat of Finland's top league, Liiga, in 2019-20, Annunen went 15-5-3 while ranking first in both save percentage (.929) and goals-against average (1.77). He also posted six shutouts and set a single-season league record with a shutout streak of 302:05.
Annunen played for Finland at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, finishing with a .916 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA in six appearances.
The Avalanche now have four goaltenders under contract for 2020-21, with Philipp Grubauer and Pavel Francouz leading the way. Annunen will likely compete with Adam Werner on the AHL's Colorado Eagles roster.
