In the NHL, there are more than a few teams that come in from week to week as a “don’t touch” bet. These are the teams that simply have no value either way. Some of the teams may be on the rise and some may have fallen off but there are many that are simply not worth the risk. Be sure and take a close look at the middle teams that have no value and lay-off of them entirely.

Every fan wants to know where their team stands and if their team deserves attention from a betting standpoint. Can you find value and if so why? What these rankings are meant to do, is show betting fans the current state-of-affairs for each NHL team. This weekly power ranking is not based on the popularity of the team and not necessarily based on record. Although the record is a factor; the money lines from the oddsmakers are a much more important factor. What those teams did for the week against the money line is the ultimate deciding factor in the NHL weekly-betting, power ranking.

We hope that you enjoy the weekly ranking and we welcome your feedback and any comments that you may have. Remember, these power rankings are for the current week in the NHL and they are not individual game previews. These rankings are meant to show overall betting-performance.

1. Tampa Bay Lightning

Odds: +250
Record: 52-13-4 SU and 43-16 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 1st

The Lightning has lost one but come in with an 8-2-0 record over the last ten games. This team has found a consistent formula for winning and it all starts with the bargain basement price of $9.5 million per season. Nikita Kucherov was a steal, and no matter what this team does, no matter what they touch, it turns to gold. This team has the Midas Touch, and nobody will catch them.

2. Calgary Flames

Odds: +1000
Record: 41-20-7 SU and 41-23 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 2nd

The Flames have youth and it all starts with Johnny Gaudreau. The guy keeps pouring it on and Calgary keeps winning. This team scores a lot of goals, they play fast, and they will be hard to catch.

3. Boston Bruins

Odds: +900
Record: 42-17-9 SU and 36-26 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 5th

The Bruins are fantastic, and nobody has turned it around more than these guys. This team has literally gone from boring, to big-time contenders. The Bruins can win it all and they will be right there with the best of the best. They will battle anybody that comes along, and they really have nothing more to prove in the regular season. The playoffs will be the test and we think they can go deep.

4. San Jose Sharks

Odds: +900
Record: 41-19-8 SU and 37-27 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 4th

The Sharks have proven to be a good bet all season long and they are now proving themselves to be one of the best teams going into the final stretch. This team has guts! Martin Jones is proving his worth and the entire organization is once again coming together and making a push down the stretch. Watch out for this group of guys, they just might be drinking from the silver cup.

5. Toronto Maple Leafs

Odds: +1100
Record: 42-21-5 SU and 39-25 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 3rd

The Maple Leafs are still a team on a mission and with names such as Mitchell Marner, they will remain a force. The question is, can they keep him? We have repeated the same mantra for weeks now, “focus”. “stop the madness, and play hockey”.

6. Winnipeg Jets

Odds: +1200
Record: 40-23-4 SU and 35-26 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 7th

The Jets have a very bright future and will be good if they can keep this version of the team intact. It’s unlikely they keep all their stars. They are still a solid hockey team and could make noise.

7. Nashville Predators

Odds: +1200
Record: 39-26-5 SU and 35-29 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 8th

The Predators are not the juggernaut they once were, but as we said in the opening monologue, they are the Predators. This is a well-coached team and they are still a talented group.

8. Washington Capitals

Odds: +1400
Record: 40-21-7 SU and 33-28 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 10th

The Caps are who we thought they were good! Really good! This team can do it again, don’t be surprised if they keep winning and never look back.

9. New York Islanders

Odds: +1600
Record: 39-22-7 and 34-26 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 9th

The Islanders are the one team that could make a run to the finals, that nobody predicted. Keep the faith but at the same time; be realistic… the east is tough.

10. Pittsburgh Penguins

Odds: +1800
Record: 36-23-9 SU and 32-29 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 13th

The Penguins have come a long way but still, have a long way to go. They are a fantastic road team and an even better road dog.

11. Carolina Hurricanes

Odds: +2000
Record: 37-24-7 SU and 33-29 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 14th

They have put together a 7-2-1 stretch and are now in the third spot in the Metropolitan division, with 81 points. These guys are good and could be a sleeper—a dark horse.

12. Vegas Golden Knights

Odds: +1400
Record: 38-26-5 SU and 31-31 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 16th

The Knights are so lovable, and we do love them! This team is fun, energetic, and not going back to the Stanley Cup! They are scoring a ton of points right now and beating their opponent like a used set of brake pads. Bet them now but use caution later. This is 2019, not 2018.

13. Montreal Canadiens

Odds: +2500
Record: 36-26-7 SU and 32-30 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 14th

The Canadiens have become what they had hoped to not become; middle of the road team that can’t find their way out of the doldrums and now it’s too late. They will go .500 the rest of the way but don’t count on much beyond that.

14. St. Louis Blues

Odds: +2000
Record: 36-25-7 SU and 33-29 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 10th

St. Louis is dead! That’s what we used to say… Can they make a legit cup run? Maybe, don’t count this team out of anything. They are better than we thought. Sorry about that Blues, we owe you an apology! This team is a worthy look at any betting option.

15. Columbus Blue Jackets

Odds: +2500
Record: 38-27-3 SU and 36-27 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 6th

“The Blue Jackets are a good hockey team” … is what we said last week. It’s true, they are a good hockey team, the problem is this; they are not good enough. There are too many other great teams and too much competition in the East. They are not going far. They will, however, keep games close and could keep things highly interesting down the stretch and into the first round.

16. Dallas Stars

Odds: +3300
Record: 35-28-5 SU and 32-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 17th

The Stars are not the worst team in the NHL and they are playoff bound but does this make them a good bet? It does from game to game because they have found a formula that works in division play, will it translate? No, Caution! They have no defense, betting the over is a great play.

17. Minnesota Wild

Odds: +3300
Record: 33-28-8 and 30-33 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 16th

The Wild are not an unmitigated disaster, but rather a confusing team. They win, lose win, lose and then go 6-2-2. That means they were a great bet. Will they stay that way? Who knows? They are much to unpredictable to want to lay our money on them.

18. Philadelphia Flyers

Odds: +8000
Record: 33-27-8 SU and 28-34 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 17th

The Flyers are good, but too little, too late.

19. Arizona Coyotes

Odds: +4000
Record: 34-29-5 SU and 27-33 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 22nd

The Coyotes are stinking good! With an 8-2 run since we last spoke, this team is a big surprise. They have proven that winning is possible in the great state of Arizona.

20. Colorado Avalanche

Odds: +5000
Record: 30-27-12 SU and 27-36 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 19th

The Av’s are winning as of late and knowing whether they can keep it up, that’s the real question. They waited much too late to get good, but right now, they are winning.

21. Chicago Blackhawks

Odds: +15000
Record: 29-30-9 SU and 26-37 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 20th

The Blackhawks have put together two wins and they could very well finish this season above .500. Pretty amazing considering where they once were.

22. Buffalo Sabres

Odds: +15000
Record: 30-29-9 SU and 25-34 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 21st

The Sabres are no better than the Blackhawks, in fact, the Blackhawks are a better bet because the Sabres have lost their heart.

23. Florida Panthers

Odds: +20000
Record: 29-27-12 and 25-35 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 23rd

With a 3-3-4 record in the last 10 games, this team is back to it’s benchmark ways; struggling. They can’t score when it matters.

24. Edmonton Oilers

Odds: +10000
Record: 30-31-7 SU and 24-37 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 27th

The Oilers have finally parted ways with Chirarelli and that can only be good news as they pick up the pieces from here. It’s hard to believe that a talent such as Connor McDavid, has no chance.

25. Vancouver Canucks

Odds: +15000
Record: 28-32-9 SU and 24-38 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 24th

The Canucks are awfuller than we thought and yes, we know that’s not a word! This team just leaves us in this tongue twisted state. At 2-6-2, this team is a spread nightmare but a spread dream if you are going the other way.

26. New Jersey Devils

Odds: +25000
Record: 25-35-9 SU and 24-39 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 25th

The Devils have certainly not made a pact with their namesake! If they have, then they should sue, because they have been screwed! This team is still awful and still a great team to bet against, whether it’s the puck line, the money line or the three-way line; they are getting beat and that’s what matters.

27. Ottawa Senators

Odds: +50000
Record: 23-40-6 SU and 22-32 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 26th

Ottawa has gone 1-8-1 since we last spoke, and they are even worse than we had given them credit for. This team is dreadful and have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. What does this mean? Watch out for them as spoilers, but probably not.

28. New York Rangers

Odds: +40000
Record: 28-28-12 SU and 21-36 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 31st

The Rangers are 3-3-4. What a disappointment. This team may not be better next season. We thought they would be much better this season but look at them.

29. Anaheim Ducks

Odds: +40000
Record: 27-33-9 SU and 21-40 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 28th

The Ducks have won a game and are better than their cross-town rivals, but not by much. This team has given up 211 goals! Wow, that says it all.

30. Detroit Red Wings

Odds: +300000
Record: 24-34-10 SU and 21-38 ATS
Last Week's Rank: 30th

The Red Wings… bet the over! 232… that’s what the number is. The amount of goals given up on the season.

31. Los Angeles Kings

Odds: +100000
Last Week's Rank: 29th
Record: 24-36-8 SU and 21-41 ATS

LA is 24-36-8 overall and 1-7-2 in the last ten games. A month ago, this team had a very outside chance at the playoffs but now; nothing. This team must rebuild, or they will be bad for a long time to come.
