The Isles had another profitable week and remain the top team in our NHL power rankings.

Tampa Bay are the hottest team in the NHL, as they’re on a league-leading nine game win streak, but they’re still seven points back of the Bruins in the Atlantic division.

This is now the third week in a row where overs performed much better than unders.

1. New York Islanders

Stanley Cup Odds: +1400

Record: 27-12-3 (+1023) / 19-23 ATS

Previous Rank: 1

The Isles went 2-1 with a loss to TOR (3-0) and wins over COL (1-0) and NJD (4-3). The shutout win was impressive. NYI rank #4 in goals against (2.55 GA/G), but they only score 2.79 GPG (21st).

2. Washington Capitals

Stanley Cup Odds: +800

Record: 30-10-5 (+817) / 23-22 ATS

Previous Rank: 2

The Caps went 2-1 this week with a loss to PHI (3-2) as big favs. The Caps rank in the top 10 in both scoring (3.56 GPG - 4th) and goals against (2.91 GA/G - 9th) and are a good bet down the stretch.

3. Winnipeg Jets

Stanley Cup Odds: +2200

Record: 24-17-4 (+$688) / 25-20 ATS

Previous Rank: 4

The Jets are a top-heavy team. Scheifele (51P), Connor (44P), Laine (41P) and Wheeler (40P) are all averaging around 1 PPG, but there’s a steep drop-off in production. WPG average 3.07 GPG (16th).

4. New York Rangers

Stanley Cup Odds: +5000

Record: 21-18-4 (+$613) / 29-14 ATS

Previous Rank: 6

The Rangers went 2-1 this week with wins against COL (5-3) and NJD (6-3). The Rangers go on streaks where the offense (3.35 GPG - 9th) is clicking, but they need to try and find more consistency.

5. St. Louis Blues

Stanley Cup Odds: +850

Record: 28-10-7 (+$609) / 22-23 ATS

Previous Rank: 3

The Blues are leading the Central by 7 points over the Stars. The Blues lost to Vegas in OT (5-4), but closed the week out with wins against the Sharks (3-2) and Sabres (5-1). STL are a great bet.

6. Pittsburgh Penguins

Stanley Cup Odds: +1600

Record: 27-12-5 (+$499) / 23-21 ATS)

Previous Rank: 9

The Penguins went 3-1 this week with all three wins coming by one goal. The Penguins are one of the best teams in the league on both ends of the ice. PIT score 3.36 GPG (7th) and allow 2.70 GA/G (6th).

7. Edmonton Oilers

Stanley Cup Odds: +2500

Record: 24-17-5 (+$443) / 24-22 ATS

Previous Rank: 13

The Oilers went 3-0 this week with wins over BOS (4-1), TOR (6-4) and MTL (4-2). It was great to see the OFF (3.02 GPG - 17th) playing better. They’ve also been better between the pipes (3.11 GA/G - 16th) too.

8. Dallas Stars

Stanley Cup Odds: +1400

Record: 26-14-4 (+$424) / 25-19 ATS

Previous Rank: 7

The Stars had a quiet week, but they went 2-0 with wins over LAK (2-1) and ANA (3-0). Dallas have now won 6 games in a row and they’re starting to look like the team many expected them to be.

9. Colorado Avalanche

Stanley Cup Odds: +900

Record: 25-15-5 (+$334) / 26-19 ATS

Previous Rank: 5

The Avs had a rough week, going 1-2-1 and losing some of the profits they had built up. The Avs are still in good shape if they turn things around, which is likely with the league’s #2 OFF (3.6 GPG).

10. Vancouver Canucks

Stanley Cup Odds: +2500

Record: 23-17-4 (+131) / 23-21 ATS

Previous Rank: 8

The Canucks went 1-2 this week and defense/goaltending was a huge problem. In the Canucks last two games they’ve lost to the Lightning (9-2) and Panthers (5-2), which is unacceptable.

11. Carolina Hurricanes

Stanley Cup Odds: +1400

Record: 26-16-2 (+$100) / 20-24 ATS

Previous Rank: 10

The Hurricanes posted a small profit with a 2-1 record this week. Carolina are one of several teams to rank inside the top 10 in scoring (3.32 GPG - 10th) and goals against 2.80 GA/G (8th).

12. Arizona Coyotes

Stanley Cup Odds: +1600

Record: 25-18-4 (+$39) / 28-19 ATS

Previous Rank: 12

The Coyotes are on a 2-game losing streak and were shutout in both losses. The team has struggled to put the puck in the net all season (2.72 GPG - 23rd) and that hasn’t changed since acquiring Hall.

13. Philadelphia Flyers

Stanley Cup Odds: +2200

Record: 23-15-6 (-$33) / 23-21 ATS

Previous Rank: 11

The Flyers went 1-1-1 this week. Philly just beat WAS (3-2) to snap a 4-game losing streak. The Flyers have been a great bet at home (14-2-4), but they’ve struggled on the road (9-13-2).

14. Columbus Blue Jackets

Stanley Cup Odds: +4000

Record: 21-16-8 (-$95) / 24-21 ATS

Previous Rank: 14

CBJ had a busy week and they ended up going 2-2. It’s unlikely the Blue Jackets will contend for a playoff spot due to the brutal offense (2.62 GPG - 27th), which makes CBJ a fade down the stretch.

15. Tampa Bay Lightning

Stanley Cup Odds: +900

Record: 26-13-4 (-$109) / 19-24 ATS

Previous Rank: 19

TB have won 9 consecutive games, but they’re still trying to get into the green. The Lightning have the leading offense in the league (3.7 GPG) and they’re only allowing 2.95 GA/G (10th).

16. Florida Panthers

Stanley Cup Odds: +2500

Record: 23-16-5 (-$147) / 22-22 ATS

Previous Rank: 16

Florida are a frustrating to bet on because you never know what team will show up. They have a lot of skill upfront (3.52 GPG - 5th), but they need to tighten up on the back end (3.3 GA/G - 26th).

17. Calgary Flames

Stanley Cup Odds: +2200

Record: 24-17-5 (-$241) / 17-29 ATS

Previous Rank: 22

The Flames went 3-0 this week with wins over MIN (5-4), CHI (2-1) and MIN (2-1). The Flames have been improving on the defensive end (2.96 GA/G - 11th) and they have plenty of firepower up front.

18. Boston Bruins

Stanley Cup Odds: +800

Record: 26-8-11 (-$263) / 22-23 ATS

Previous Rank: 18

The Bruins have won two in a row after suffering a loss to EDM (4-1) to start the week. The Bruins are back to scoring lots of goals, which is good, as they were dropping in that category (3.36 GPG - 7th).

19. Chicago Blackhawks

Stanley Cup Odds: +6600

Record: 19-20-6 (-$306) / 25-20 ATS

Previous Rank: 15

Chicago are last in the Central and need to turn things around quickly or else they won’t even have a chance to contend for a playoff spot down the stretch. They’re not out of it yet, though.

20. Minnesota Wild

Stanley Cup Odds: +3500

Record: 20-18-6 (-$399) / 21-23 ATS

Previous Rank: 17

The Wild are on a 2-game losing streak and have lost 4 of their last 5 games. The Wild have been terrible on the road (9-14-2), but they’re a decent team to target when at home (11-4-4).

21. Buffalo Sabres

Stanley Cup Odds: +4500

Record: 19-18-7 (-$487) / 25-19 ATS

Previous Rank: 24

Buffalo have just 3 wins in their last 11 games, which isn’t getting it done. The Sabres have some great young talent led by Eichel (27G/29A), but they’re still missing some veteran leadership.

22. Los Angeles Kings

Stanley Cup Odds: +15000

Record: 18-24-4 (-$559) / 26-20 ATS

Previous Rank: 23

The Kings snapped a 3-game losing streak with a win over Vegas (5-2) last time out. Kopitar leads the team with 40 points, but the next closest player to him in terms of production is Toffoli (27P).

23. Toronto Maple Leafs

Stanley Cup Odds: +1400

Record: 24-15-6 (-$573) / 21-24 ATS

Previous Rank: 21

Toronto went 1-1-1 this week, but they’re still in good shape in the Atlantic. The Leafs are still scoring a lot of goals (3.58 GPG - 3rd), but they’ve been complacent on the defensive end (3.16 GA/G - 20th).

24. Vegas Golden Knights

Stanley Cup Odds: +1200

Record: 24-17-6 (-$674) / 18-29 ATS

Previous Rank: 26

Vegas went 1-2 this week with two losses in a row against PIT (4-3) and LAK (5-2). The Knights are still in 1st place in the Pacific, but they need to pick it up if they want to hold onto their slim lead.

25. Ottawa Senators

Stanley Cup Odds: +25000

Record: 16-22-6 (-$678) / 23-21 ATS

Previous Rank: 20

The Sens went 0-2-1 this week and fell back down the rankings. Ottawa are one of the worst teams defensively (3.39 GPG - 29th) and they’re not much better on offense (2.73 GPG - 22nd).

26. Nashville Predators

Stanley Cup Odds: +2200

Record: 20-16-7 (-$704) / 17-26 ATS

Previous Rank: 28

The Preds went 2-1-1 this week and goaltending was a problem in the losses. Nashville were beat up by the Ducks (5-4) and Bruins (6-2). They’re now allowing teams to score 3.3 GPG (26th).

27. San Jose Sharks

Stanley Cup Odds: +5000

Record: 20-22-4 (-$758) / 22-24 ATS

Previous Rank: 29

The Sharks have won 4 of 7 games, but they’ll need to do better than that if they want to get out of the hole they dug themselves in the Pacific. The OFF (2.65 GPG - 26th) will need to produce more.

28. Montreal Canadiens

Stanley Cup Odds: +4500

Record: 18-20-7 (-$910) / 21-24 ATS

Previous Rank: 25

Montreal have lost 8 games in a row. Many of the games have been close, but either way they’re not getting it done. The Canadiens now rank #23 in goals against (3.24 GA/G - 23rd) this season.

29. Anaheim Ducks

Stanley Cup Odds: +10000

Record: 17-22-5 (-$917) / 21-23 ATS

Previous Rank: 30

The Ducks went 1-2 this week and fell into a bigger hole. Anaheim are only scoring 2.48 GPG (30th) and there’s no way they’re going to do much better down the stretch with that type of production.

30. New Jersey Devils

Stanley Cup Odds: +25000

Record: 15-21-7 (-$927) / 18-25 ATS

Previous Rank: 27

The Devils went 0-2-1 this week and are back down to #30 in our rankings after showing some signs of life in previous weeks. NJD are scoring 2.56 GPG (29th), while allowing 3.49 GA/G (30th).

31. Detroit Red Wings

Stanley Cup Odds: +100000

Record: 12-30-3 (-$1405) / 19-26 ATS

Previous Rank: 31

Detroit are a complete fade down the stretch, it doesn’t matter who they’re playing. They’ve won two in a row to end this week, but those came against struggling teams (OTT/MON).
