Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will miss the remainder of the season with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Korpisalo was injured during the third period of the Blue Jackets' 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
"With both Elvis (Merzlikins) and (Korpisalo), I think it's been a struggle the past little while here," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said Tuesday. "That's why it's so disappointing for me, for (Korpisalo), because I thought he was playing one of his better games in quite a while before he was injured."
Korpisalo, who turns 27 on Wednesday, sports a 9-13-7 record with a 3.30 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 33 games (31 starts) this season. He has a career mark of 69-56-21 with three shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and .905 save percentage in 160 appearances (147 starts) with the Blue Jackets.
Columbus added goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks to its roster on emergency conditions on Tuesday.
