The Calgary Flames have now won five in a row and on Thursday night they took the Tampa Bay Lightning to the wood shed and beat them 5-1. Not only did Calgary get their 5th win in a row, they did it on the road in Tampa Bay against the best team in the NHL.
Flames vs. Panthers Preview and Predictions
Aleksander Barkov looks to extend his goal-scoring streak two days after being selected for his first...
The Flames come into this game with a 23-16-4 record and with a stockpile of confidence. Count on them to play well against the struggling Panthers (18-8-6). Left Winger Johnny Gaudreau was named an All-Star on Wednesday and for good reason. He leads the team in points with 14 goals on the season along with 37 assists through 43 games and collecting nine assists during the five game win streak.
"Johnny is maybe the most exciting guy I've watched, you don't know what's going to happen when he's out there he's so dynamic. He gets the best looks in the league. He puts himself in position to create and shoot. Just the way he navigates on the ice and can handle the puck, it's pretty amazing. For not a big guy, he can strip guys of pucks and get opportunities. He is our engine for generating offense."

The Panthers are struggling but one positive takeaway from the recent road trip where they went 1-2-1 would be overcoming a 2-0 deficit in St. Louis to win 7-4.
Panther’s center Vincent Trocheck had this to say: "The last game on a trip, sometimes it's a little hard to get into the game because you are thinking about going home, but I think giving up those two quick goals woke us up pretty quick." Right winger Radim Vrbata returned from the IL in St. Louis to score a goal in the 7-4 victory over the Blues. Although the Panthers have done well enough without him; he is no doubt an added lift to the team and will be counted on down the stretch.
Jets vs. Blackhawks Preview and Predictions
The tables have turned in the ultra-competitive Central Division, with perennial power Chicago fighting to...
Goalie James Reimer has started the last 15 games for the Panthers and continues to come up huge on a nightly basis. This season for the Panthers would be all but lost without his sharp play. The Panthers anticipate a great game and they know that every game matters. Center Aleksander Barkov has been stellar with 14 goals and 40 points on the season as well as named an All-Star.
"Right now, every game is a playoff for us and we need to win every game. We have to be consistent. We can't have any bad periods."— Barkov
The Flames are 12-4-0 when Monahan scores, and to boot, Micheal Ferland is having a career year. Ferland (19 goals) has the luxury this season of playing on Calgary's top line with Monahan and Gaudreau. Calgary’s Achilles heel is the power play, the Flames are a paltry 9-70! That’s a problem that must be addressed. Kris Versteed went down with a hip injury and the flames seem caught in a funk without him.
Tonight’s game will be fast and furious. This is a great game for kicking back and watching as a fan or even a little wagering action. Have fun with this one and good luck.
