Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin is expected to miss a minimum of eight weeks following surgery Sunday to repair lacerated tendons in his left ankle, the team announced Sunday.

The seven-year veteran was injured during the first period of Saturday's 5-2 loss at the St. Louis Blues. The team stated the surgery, performed at UPMC Presbyterian by team physician, Dr. Dharmesh Vyas, was successful.

Dumoulin, 28, has seven points (one goal and six assists) over 23 games for the Penguins this season.

This marks Dumoulin's second stint on the IR list this season. He missed 11 days in October with a lower-body injury.
