Ahh yes. It's time for another horse racing preview! This time we will take a look at the upcoming Breeders’ Cup this weekend. I always like to give you guys a condensed preview for every single big horse race early in the week. Then I'll be writing you a prediction piece later in the week with my picks. Be on the lookout.
The Breeder’s Cup is one of the biggest horse races in the world. It's right up there with the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes and Travers Cup for those who may not be too familiar with horse racing. It is a full day of racing with a ton of grade one stakes. This year, Del Mar Racetrack in San Diego, California will play host to the day long festivities. I've been to this track before and it's nothing short of beautiful.
One cool thing about this horse race is that it blends the east coast with the west coast. Often times we see a clear separation between east coast racing and west coast racing. Different trainers, different jockeys, different horses. But when all of these mix for a huge event like the Breeders’ Cup, it is definitely a lot of fun to watch.
Let’s take a look at the field for the main event:
BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC

10. Pavel, Doug O'Neill, Mario Gutierrez, 20-1

One name will certainly stand out when looking at the field. And I'm talking about Bob Baffert. He has 3 horses racing in the Breeder's Cup Classic! Pretty crazy to think about. But then again, I guess it should not be surprising to horse racing fans because we are used to constantly seeing Bob Baffert race in big events. He is a phenomenal trainer and has a great chance to capture the large $6 million purse.
We are not going to sit here and break down the other 12 races. But they are all big races with purses of at least $1 million. The other races in order will be the Juvenile Fillies Turf to kick off the day, followed by the Las Vegas Dirt Mile, The Juvenile Turf, The Longines Distaff, The 14 Hands Winery Juvenile Fillies, The Turf Spring, The Filly And Mare Sprint, The Filly And Mare Turf, The Twinspires Sprint, The Mile, The Sentient Jet Juvenile, The Longines Turf, and then closing the day with the main event, The Breeder's Cup Classic. This is a day that horse racing fans love. Tons of betting and tons of fun.
Remember, I will be checking back in later this week with my prediction for the Breeders’ Cup. Very excited to talk horse racing and share some picks with you! Saturday should be a fantastic day of racing.
