As always, I think it’s important to take an early look at the big horse races. Horse racing is such a huge part of sports betting in this country and sometimes it doesn’t get covered enough. Often times people are scrambling the day of the big races just to find some betting information and take a look at the field.

Well I’m here to make sure that doesn’t happen!

We are just ten days away from the third leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes that is run at Belmont Park in New York. It’s an iconic horse race and features some great horses this year. I think it will be pretty tough to bet on, but I’ll definitely be giving you my betting tips later next week.

But for now, let’s just take a closer look at the 2017 Belmont Stakes:

When is the 2017 Belmont Stakes?

The Belmont Stakes Racing Festival runs from June 8-10, with the 2017 Belmont Stakes highlighting the weekend's events on Saturday, June 10.

What time is the 2017 Belmont Stakes?

The 2017 Belmont Stakes is scheduled to run at approximately 6:50 p.m., however, the start and post times are subject to change, as always. I expect the race to begin right around 7:00 p.m. Usually these post times are fairly close and accurate.

What TV channel is the Belmont Stakes on?

You can watch the Belmont Stakes on NBC's over-the-air TV broadcast. Check your local listings, or find out what channel NBC is for your cable/satellite systems here. NBC always does a pretty good job with their horse racing coverage.

How can I watch pre-race coverage of the 2017 Belmont Stakes?

Pre-race coverage starts at 5:00 p.m. ET on NBC. NBCSN will provide coverage of the other races at Belmont Park from 3 to 5 p.m. You can also watch coverage on TVG from Belmont Park all weekend.

Can I live stream the 2017 Belmont Stakes?

The Belmont Stakes will be streamed online this year via NBC Sports Live Extra or through the NBC Sports app. The NBC Sports app is available on the iTunes App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Windows Store, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Fire and Chromecast. It’s a reliable way to stream and watch on your phone. There is never much issue with connectivity.

Who won the 2016 Belmont Stakes?

Creator took home the 2016 Belmont Stakes title, defeating Destin by literally a nose. There was no Triple Crown in line as Exaggerator won the 2016 Preakness Stakes and Nyquist won the 2016 Kentucky Derby. The same goes for this year. No Triple Crown on the line as Always Dreaming won the 2016 Kentucky Derby and Cloud Computing won the Preakness just a couple of weeks ago, where I lost a heartbreaking bet by a nose!

Here’s the field for the 2017 Belmont Stakes along with early odds:

Classic Empire (3-2)

Lookin At Lee (6-1)

Irish War Cry (8-1)

Senior Investment (10-1)

Tapwrit (10-1)
