Toronto FC rookie forward Ifunanyachi Achara signed a contract on the heels of his sterling performance in the preseason, the club announced Friday.
Terms of the deal were not announced for the Nigerian-born Achara, who was selected with the 25th overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft out of Georgetown.
Achara, 22, has hit the ground running with three goals in four preseason matches.
"Achara has had a terrific preseason. He works hard, is dynamic offensively and has a great way about him where he fits very well within the group," Toronto general manager Ali Curtis said in a statement. "We're excited about adding him to the team as we feel he has a lot of potential."
Achara, who served as the Hoyas co-captain, missed the start of the 2019 season before returning with a flourish. He collected six goals and five assists in 15 games before spraining his ankle in the NCAA playoffs.
Toronto opens its season against San Jose on Feb. 29.
