FC Cincinnati transferred midfielder Leonardo Bertone to the Swiss Super League club FC Thun on Monday.

Bertone scored the first MLS goal in Cincinnati's inaugural season in 2019, a 13th-minute volley against the Seattle Sounders on March 2.

The 25-year-old Switzerland native made 25 appearances for Cincinnati with 22 starts, finishing with one goal and two assists.

"We want to thank Leonardo for all he did for this club on the pitch and in the community as an FC Cincinnati player," general manager Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. "We felt this move was beneficial for both sides. We wish Leonardo all the best in the next chapter of his career."

Cincinnati will open the 2020 MLS season on March 1 with an away match against the New York Red Bulls.
