The Minnesota United signed French defender Romain Metanire with Targeted Allocation Money, the team announced Friday.
Metanire, 28, still must pass a physical.
Metanire has played in 218 matches over 10 professional seasons. He has two goals and 13 assists.
"Romain is an experienced player and we have the mindset of bringing in players who can come in and compete for a spot straight away," Minnesota United coach Adrian Heath said in a statement. "He's been playing a really good standard in France. He's very athletic, he can play in both halves of the field; great at defending but good at going forward as well."
Metanire also has Madagascar citizenship and has made three appearances for that country's national team.
