The Montreal Impact signed Haitian midfielder Steeven Saba to a one-year contract Tuesday with club options for 2021 and 2022.
Saba, 26, holds an American passport and won't be counted as an international player. He had been in preseason camp with Montreal on a trial basis.
"Steven confirmed the qualities we saw before inviting him to camp," said Montreal Impact sporting director Olivier Renard in a statement. "We are very happy to see him join the Impact and start the second phase of training camp as a full-time player."
Saba spent the last two seasons playing for Violette Athletic Club in Haiti. He has made 12 international appearances for Haiti's senior national team and made the Best XI at the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage.
Montreal and first-year head coach Thierry Henry open the MLS regular season on Feb. 29 at home against the New England Revolution.
