Orlando City SC acquired forward Alexander Alvarado on a short-term loan from S.D. Aucas in his native Ecuador.
The deal announced Tuesday includes a permanent transfer option following the 2020 season. Alvarado, 21, will join Orlando following the receipt of his paperwork and completion of any mandatory quarantine periods.
"Alexander possesses a great amount of versatility, able to play on the left, on the right or at the center," Orlando City executive vice president of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said in a statement. "We're excited to welcome another young, dynamic addition to our team and think he has a bright future ahead of him. We look forward to seeing what he can add to our already competitive roster."
Alvarado has tallied six goals and 14 assists in 88 appearances since signing with Aucas in 2018. He has also made two appearances with Ecuador's national team.
