Toronto FC confirmed the signing of American striker Terrence Boyd on Tuesday.
Boyd, 27, had been with German second-division club Darmstadt since 2017 and has spent his professional career to date in Germany and Austria.
Before scoring five goals in 44 appearances with Darmstadt, he tallied 37 goals and 11 assists in 80 appearances for Rapid Vienna.
"We are excited to welcome Terrence and his family to the club. Terrence is a player that we've tracked for years during his time with the U.S. National Team and in Germany," TFC General Manager Ali Curtis said in a media release. "He is an experienced, attacking player that is capable of scoring goals in MLS. We're looking forward to him joining our preseason and integrating himself into the group."
Boyd has earned 14 caps (one start) with the U.S. national team, although he has played a total of just three minutes in two appearances since 2013.
Toronto FC will open the MLS season on March 2 on the road against the Philadelphia Union.
