2021 Buffalo Bills Team Preview, Odds, and Predictions

The Buffalo Bills finished the 2020 season with a 13-3 record, improving on their 10-6 record from the season before. Aside from the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills had the best passing offense in the AFC. Quarterback Josh Allen meshed well with his new receiving group that included Stefon Diggs. Diggs, the player responsible for the “Minneapolis Miracle”, had his best season to date. This high-powered offense went to the playoffs for the third time in four years.

What makes this so important is the team had gone 17 seasons without a playoff appearance. Once there, they coasted through the Wild Card and Divisional Round all the way to the AFC Championship game. This was the first time the Bills had made the AFC Championship since 1993. Unfortunately, that’s where the Bills were stopped by the Kansas City Chiefs. This season, the Bills look to take their team even further. With fifth-year head coach Sean Mcdermott and MVP candidate Josh Allen at the helm, we shouldn’t doubt Buffalo in 2021.

If you’re looking for a sure-fire team that won’t miss the NFL playoffs this year, look no further than Buffalo. Throughout the AFC, there are only two teams that are essentially guaranteed to make the NFL playoffs. Those teams, are the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Buffalo Bills. That being said, one of the most obvious futures bets to make is the Buffalo Bills to win the AFC East. To remind you the teams in the AFC East are the Bills, the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, and the New York Jets.

The Miami Dolphins came closest to winning the AFC East in the 2020 season over the Bills. However, three games separated the two, and Miami finished with a 10-6 record. New England and New York are still in a rebuilding phase, so no need to worry about them. That leaves Miami and Buffalo to take the AFC East, giving you a 50/50 shot. The better bet is the team that went all the way to the AFC Championship the year prior, the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is already an AFC titan, while Miami still has kinks to work out on both sides of the ball.

2021 Buffalo Bills Offseason Grade: C+

Key Additions: (CB, Richard Wildgoose), (G, Forrest Lamp), (DE, Gregory Rousseau)

Key Departures: (WR, John Brown), (DT, Nazair Jones)

To be fair to Buffalo, there weren’t many pieces to add to this team in the offseason. It was more about the growth of their roster during the offseason and more playing time together. They didn’t need to go out and make blockbuster signings because they did so in 2019. The trade for Stefon Diggs, from the Minnesota Vikings, paid dividends for Buffalo. Josh Allen finally had a true route-running receiver that he could rely on. You could see their cohesion on the field as the two combined for over 1500 yards and eight touchdowns.

This left little work for the Buffalo Bills to do this offseason aside from retooling the offensive line. They made some key depth signings for the offensive line in the event of injury. They also drafted a highly-graded defensive end in Gregory Rousseau that will help the pass-rush. The only downside of their offseason was the release of wide receiver John Brown. Brown gave the Bills a speedy receiver that became a serious threat for slow secondaries. I wouldn’t worry much though as Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley can fill the hole left by the departure.

Buffalo Bills 2021 Preview

Heading into this season, the Buffalo Bills aren’t looking just to lead the AFC East standings again. They’re looking to win it all. With a roster this deep and an offense fueled by the tenacious Josh Allen, they can do it. The Bills are a favorite among sportsbooks to win the Super Bowl coming in with the third-best odds. They also have a generous schedule this year, which will contribute to their odds on the win total.

Buffalo Bills Futures Best Bets

The first of the futures you should add concerning the Buffalo Bills is the winner of the AFC East. As stated earlier, the only team that has a chance to take the title from them is the Miami Dolphins. With the schedule in front of Buffalo, they could win twelve games this year, can’t say the same for Miami.

That being said, you should add the over on the win total of 10.5. The sportsbooks already favor the Bills going over 10.5 games, meaning you should too. If you’re feeling risky, you could take them +600 to win the AFC Championship. Just remember, the team that beat them the previous year hasn’t missed a step this offseason.
