2021 Georgia Bulldogs Team Preview, Odds, and Predictions

The Georgia Bulldogs come into the 2021 season with high expectations. Nothing surprising following a mediocre season in 2020. They finished with an 8-2 record, but Head Coach Kirby Smart wanted to see more out of his team. Remember, they lost the Eastern Division of the SEC. With losses against the Rolling Tide and the Gators, the Bulldogs fell short of their 2020 goals.

With the 2021 season rapidly approaching, the goals have been set higher this year. Most notably for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Vegas actually set their win total lower than the other teams in the running to win the National Championship. Yet, it’s still higher than their win total last year. Returning to the Bulldogs lineup will be Heisman Trophy contender Quarterback J.T Daniels. With the quarterback and coach duo returning to Georgia, the Bulldogs will hope for a National Championship this season.

The Bulldogs have a bright schedule in front of them. But to achieve the win totals bet they’ll have two big games to overcome. Their first game of the season is against the Clemson Tigers. Later that year, they’ll face the Florida Gators. Both of those teams are Top-25 in the nation and they’ll need to win one. Perhaps they will have to win both of those games along with the rest of their schedule to cover.

The Clemson game is the most concerning of the two considering their current roster and head coach. The Bulldogs are the second-favorite team to win the SEC at +250, only behind the Crimson Tide at -167. The likelihood of them taking the SEC this year over Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide is a far-fetched bet… especially with games against Clemson and Florida.

2021 Georgia Bulldogs Offseason Grade: B

Key Additions: (OLB, Jalon Walker), (DT, Tyre West)

Key Departures: (DB, Eric Stokes) (DB, Tyson Campbell) (LB, Azeez Ojulari)

The Georgia Bulldogs head into the season at a distinct disadvantage on defense. This will hurt them against teams like Clemson. During the first two days of the NFL Draft, the Bulldogs lost six players four of which were on defense. On average, the Georgia Bulldogs only allowed 20.0 points per game due to an incredible secondary.

That secondary is no longer present for the Bulldogs. That said, Head Coach Kirby Smart will have to come up with a better scheme to stop high-powered teams like Clemson. During their recruiting process, the Bulldogs found great players at the linebacker and defensive tackle positions. Unfortunately, they were unable to land a solid defensive back.

Georgia Bulldogs Preview 2021

The Georgia Bulldogs head into the season with high hopes in mind. But, still without a strong defense, Georgia will have a tough time taking the SEC. One of the driving forces behind their success last year was the defense. However, it seems this year the focus is the offense. They also have a Heisman hopeful in J.T Daniels, so although the Bulldogs might not win the SEC, they could pull off an 11 win season.

Georgia Bulldogs Futures Best Bets

Coming into this season, you have to keep in mind what has been lost on the defensive side of the football for Georgia. Two of their top defensive backs were drafted to the NFL, leaving gaping holes that teams can exploit.

The best bet to make on the Bulldogs is the over 10.5 win total, as they only have two opponents in the Top-25. If you’re looking for something risky, the +1000 bet on J.T Daniels to win the Heisman Trophy could be a great bet… especially considering the entire offense goes through him.
