Let’s analyze the 2023 MLB National League Rookie of the Year futures betting market and predict who will win the award this season. There are a number of top contenders that could all be the NL ROY.
Two Atlanta Braves rookies battled it out for the 2022 NL ROY award. Michael Harris ended up winning with 22 first place votes. Spencer Strider was runner-up with eight first place votes.
Harris batted .297/.339/.514 with 19 HRs and 64 RBIs.
Top Contenders to Win the 2023 NL ROY Award
There are five NL rookies priced below 10/1 to win the 2023 ROY award.
Corbin Carroll (+400)
Carroll played 32 games with the Diamondbacks last season. He batted .260/.330/.500 with 4 HRs and 14 RBIs in 104 at bats. He struck out 31 times (29.8%) and he’ll need to improve on that this season.
Carroll only had two stolen bases with the Diamondbacks, but he has lots of speed.
Miguel Vargas (+500)
Vargas struggled when he was called up to the Majors last season for the Dodgers. It’s a small sample size (47 at bats), but he batted .170/.200/.255 with 1 HR and 8 RBIs. He did rake in AAA, though.
He should make the Opening Day roster, but may not be a full time starter initially.
Ezequiel Tovar (+600)
Tovar is going to get lots of at bats this season for the Rockies if he can stay healthy. He spent most of last season at AA, but he played nine games with the Rockies. He only had 7 hits (1 HR) in 33 at bats.
He dealt with a groin injury in 2022, but he has a chance at consistent playing time with Colorado.
Cade Cavalli (+800)
There isn’t a clear-cut favorite to win NL ROY this season, but Cavalli is priced too low. Cavalli had one start with the Nationals last season and he allowed seven earned runs in just 4.1 innings.
Cavalli also only went 6-4 in AAA with a 3.71 ERA. He strikes out a lot of batters and doesn’t give up too many home runs, but he needs to work on lowering his ERA in his first full season with Washington.
Jordan Walker (+900)
Walker won’t start the season with the Cardinals. He played at AA in 2022. He batted .306/.388/.510 with 19 HRs and 68 RBIs. He also stole 22 bases. However, he might not play much in the Majors in 2023.

Best Bet: Corbin Carroll (+400)
It’s tough to look past the favorite in the 2023 National Rookie of the Year betting market.
Not only did Carroll gain some experience with the Diamondbacks last season, but he also has a secure starting position with the Diamondbacks. He’ll likely get a chance to bat lead-off against righties.
There also aren’t a lot of NL rookies with a secure full time spot on the roster like Carroll.
