Trying to host LAN eSports tournaments has been difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This winter, the best CS:GO teams will compete for $250,000 split across four regional tournaments in the DreamHack Masters Winter event, which is scheduled to start on November 30th 2020.

DreamHack Masters Winter Format and Schedule

The format for the tournaments varies based on the region, but we’ll break it down for you.

Europe ($150,000 Prize Pool):

Two groups of eight teams will compete in the group stage (BO3 Double Elimination). The top four teams from each of the two groups will advance to the playoffs.

The playoffs will be BO3 single elimination matches with the final being a best-of-five (BO5) match.

Dates: November 30th – December 3rd (Group Stage) / December 4th – 6th (Playoffs)

North America ($70,000 Prize Pool):

Two groups of four teams will compete in the group stage (BO3 Double Elimination). The top two teams from the two groups will advance to the playoffs in the NA region.

The playoffs will follow the same format as the Europe region.

Dates: November 30th – December 4th (Group Stage) / December 5th – 6th (Playoffs)

The Oceania ($15,000 Prize Pool) and Asia ($15,000 Prize Pool) regions will also be competing in the DreamHack Masters Winter, but they’ll be playing for a much smaller share of the prize pool.

What Teams Are Playing in DreamHack Masters Winter

Only six teams are currently confirmed to be playing in the event. They received invites directly from DreamHack. There will be a total of 32 teams playing across the four regional tournaments.

Apart from the six invites, 26 teams will need to earn a spot by qualifying. The NA qualifiers actually finish up tonight, while the EU qualifiers don’t begin until November.

The open qualifiers for the European region will run between November 3rd – 4th.
