BPL Free Pick | FC Minsk vs. Dinamo Minsk

With the large majority of sports leagues now postponing their season due to coronavirus, the betting board isn’t what it used to be, there are still plenty of betting options though. I’ve selected a soccer match from the Belarus Premier League.

I’ll be honest, I don’t follow the BPL, but I’ve spent the day going through this weekend’s matches to find a best bet that I’m confident in backing. I’m now 4-0-2 on my free picks here at SAS.

Game: FC Minsk (1-0-0) vs. Dinamo Minsk (0-0-1)

When: 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 28th, 2020

Where: FC Minsk Stadium, Minsk, Belarus

Current Line: FC Minsk (+231) / Dinamo Minsk (+106) / Draw (+190)

Asian Handicap: FC Minsk +0.5 (-136) vs. Dinamo Minsk -0.5 (+106)

Total: Over 2.5 Goals (+127) vs. Under 2.5 Goals (-157)

The BPL got underway last weekend. FC Minsk opened the season with a win against Belshina (3-1), while Dinamo started the season with an unexpected loss to Ruh Brest (1-0).

Dinamo allowed an early goal (26th min.), and despite pushing back, they failed to score. They were huge favorites in the match and they’ll be desperate to find their form on Saturday.

Dinamo Has Dominated the H2H Series

Dinamo have gone undefeated (12-5-0) in the last 17 H2H matches against Minsk. The last time Minsk was able to defeat Dinamo was back in 2011, however, the recent results have been closer.

Dating back to 2016, Minsk have drawn three of four H2H matches at home.

BELARUS: PREMIER LEAGUE | Dinamo Minsk 3-2 Minsk | 11.08.2019

Minsk Are Tough at Home

It’s hard to look past the H2H results in this series, but Minsk are a strong home team.

Looking at results from the Belarus Premier League only, Minsk have won 8 of their last 10 home matches and they’ve kept a clean sheet in 4 of their last 5 home matches.

Last season, Minsk went 8-4-3 (28 Points) at home and 1-5-9 (8 Points) in away matches.

What’s Wrong With Dinamo?

Dinamo finished the 2019 Belarus Premier League in 4th place (50 points), but they struggled mightily down the stretch. They finished last season on a 1-4-4 run in their final nine matches.

So far in 2020, Dinamo lost their season opener as a huge favorite and they also lost both of their matches against BATE Borisov in March, which eliminated them from the Belarus Cup.

With Dinamo winning just 1 of their last 10 BPL matches, should they even be favored?

At the end of last season, Dinamo made big changes. They brought in more than 10 new players during the winter transfer window. Seven of those players started against Ruh Brest.

With so many new players, it’s going to take a little while to build chemistry.

Back FC Minsk on the Asian Handicap

My best bet in this match is FC Mink +0.5 (-136) at America’s Bookie.

I looked at several bookies and AB had the best AH odds on FC Minsk at -136.

For those unfamiliar with Asian handicaps, +0.5 means we’ll win if FC Minsk win or draw this match.

With 3 of the last 4 H2H matches at FC Minsk Stadium ending in a draw and Dinamo struggling to defeat anyone in the BPL, I’m confident the home team will put up a strong fight.

This is a great opportunity for Minsk to defeat Dinamo, something they haven’t done in nearly a decade. Minsk looked great in their opener and it was nice to see them pile on the goals.

Today’s BPL Free Pick: FC Minsk +0.5 (-136)
