MLB Player Props Predictions for Monday, July 26th

JOEY VOTTO (Cincinnati Reds) OVER 0.5 TOTAL RUNS (-110)

Opponent: CHICAGO CUBS (starter – Kyle Hendricks)

Time: 8:10 PM ET

Hendricks is almost a sure bet to go six innings in a game. In fact, he’s done at least that in each of his last eleven starts. He’s won 12 games, but he’s also given up more hits than anyone else in the National League.

Well, we’re not going to say that Joey Votto necessarily kills Hendricks, but he has indeed hit .364 lifetime against him, with a homer every eleven trips to the plate. And, the master of getting on base has walked 13 times in 46 plate appearances. The more times you get on base, the more chances you have to score a run.

MLB Betting Odds

SALVADOR PEREZ (Kansas City Royals) UNDER 1.5 HITS (-200)

Opponent: CHICAGO WHITE SOX (starter – Dallas Keuchel)

Time: 8:10 PM ET

If Perez is going to get his two hits, he better get them after the fifth or sixth inning, at least based on his past performances against former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel. We say that because the All-Star catcher, who competed in this year’s Home Run Derby, has come up rather empty against tonight’s ChiSox starter.

In 30 career plate appearances, Perez has four hits – none of them for extra bases – and has struck out eight times. So he has a lifetime batting average AND slugging percentage of .138 against Keuchel. We’re on top of this one.

JONATHAN SCHOOP (Detroit Tigers) UNDER 1.5 HITS (-200)

Opponent: MINNESOTA TWINS (starter – Michael Pineda)

Time: 8:10 PM ET

Pineda hasn’t faced the Tigers since the 2020 season, but he’s had some positive experiences against Schoop. Sure, the Detroit first baseman has six career RBI against Pineda, but with four hits in 22 at bats, he hasn’t mastered Pineda – not by a long shot. And get this:he has not drawn even one career walk against him in 22 plate appearances. Obviously he’s swinging at some bad pitches.

Expert MLB Picks

JUSTIN UPTON (Los Angeles Angels) UNDER 0.5 HITS (+130)

Opponent: COLORADO ROCKIES (German Marquez)

Time: 9:35 PM ET

Well, the Colorado Rockies don’t do a whole lot of positive business on the road; that much can’t be in much question. With a 10-36 record as the visitor, it’s damn near impossible to fashion any kind of playoff push. But German Marquez may have a chance to stand out a bit against a couple of the Angels. One of them is Justin Upton, who has been kind of a “feast or famine” player, having hit 14 homers but batting just .235 with 77 strikeouts.

Some of that works out nicely for Marquez, who has given up two hits to him in six at bats, but has also struck him out the other four times. So for us, this number makes sense.

BO BICHETTE (Toronto Blue Jays) OVER 1.5 TOTAL BASES (-130)

Opponent: BOSTON RED SOX (starter – Nick Pivetta)

Time: 7:10 PM ET

The day may come when Nick Pivetta figures out Bo Bichette, but that day hasn’t come quite yet. Bichette, one of several terrific young players for the Blue Jays, has come to bat ten times against Pivetta, and aside from walking once, he’s got six hits, three of those for extra bases. He’s been struck out only once, so he puts the ball in play. Among a number of Jays who can do some damage here, Bo may be at the forefront.
