NASCAR Preview: 2020 Dixie Vodka 400 Picks and Odds

The NASCAR Cup Series ran in Atlanta on Sunday and then in Martinsville under the lights on Wed. Kevin Harvick won on Sunday with Martin Truex Jr taking the checkered flag on humpday. And, those two wins are reflected in the odds for the Dixie Vodka 400.
Harvick is a slight favorite at +400 with Truex coming in at +500. Both drivers have been on my radar all season and my thoughts have not changed much. I had Harvick for the win in Atlanta and Truex has placed well for me several times this season. You can check out more info in my 2020 Folds of Honor 500 story last week.

Outside of Harvick and Truex the other drivers coming in under +1000 are very predictable with only one having a question mark in my mind.
Here’s how the top-five drivers to win outright line up. More odds listed below.
Kevin Harvick +400
Martin Truex Jr. +500
Kyle Busch +550
Chase Elliott +700
Joey Logano +750
Back to my one question mark – Kyle Busch. The driver of the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing has been inconsistent, to say the least, this season. He was a heavy favorite for Wednesday night in Martinsville but ended up being a no-show. And, that’s been the case almost all year long. That being said, it’s hard to rule him out at Homestead.

Best Bets for the Dixie Vodka 400
A factor to consider this weekend could be the fact that the race has moved from November. And, it used to finish under the lights due to shorter days. This Sunday will be a full day race – barring any delays that force it to a night race – with hotter Florida temps when compared to November.
Kevin Harvick +400
I’m going with Kevin Harvick again this week as my first pick because you can’t argue with success. He has two wins this season and has finished in the top-ten ten times this year with no DNF’s. Plus, at Homestead, he’s finished in the top four every time since 2014.
Joey Logano +750
Joey Logano won at Homestead back in 2018 and he’s run well there several times. While Logano has shown some inconsistencies this season he has run solid on larger tracks. He won one of the Duel races at Daytona, followed by wins at Las Vegas and Phoenix. His best short-run race came Wednesday night at Martinsville where he placed 4th.
Brad Keselowski +1000
Brad Keselowski has never won a Series Race at Homestead and that could change this weekend. He has two wins on the season which came at a Charlotte and Bristol. He finished third at Martinsville. His last six races have all been top-ten runs.
Others I like to win the Dixie Vodka 400
Kyle Busch & Alex Bowman: Busch won the last Homestead race so it’s hard to rule him out. However, the problems I mentioned with Busch above force me to push him down the list. Alex Bowman has a win on the season and it came at a track, Fontana, with a similar surface and size to Homestead. He had a solid sixth-place finish at Martinsville.
