It’s top against bottom in the Atlantic Division on Thursday, as the high-flying Boston Bruins host the lowly Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins have won 54 of their 70 games this season, while the Canadiens have managed to win just 28 of their 71.
Boston’s David Pastrnak finds himself at the summit of the SOG leaderboard, having racked up 333 shots on goal this season. Averaging 4.76 SOG per game in 2022-23, Pastrnak shouldn’t struggle to register over 4.5 shots on goal against faltering Montreal.
Aleksander Barkov – Over 0.5 Assists (-190)
Maple Leafs vs. Panthers Picks
Aleksander Barkov has chalked up nine assists across his previous six appearances, doubling up on three occasions during that period. When you look at the bigger picture, the Florida Panthers center has recorded 12 assists in his last 10 outings.
Not only have the Panthers won three of their last four games, but they have also won six of their previous eight. With Florida firing on all cylinders at the moment, I’m confident that Barkov will at to his tally of assists against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
Martin Necas – Over 0.5 Points (-180)
The Carolina Hurricanes find themselves atop the Metropolitan Division following a run of seven victories in 10 games. Better still, the Hurricanes have won 19 of their previous 25 encounters, with Martin Necas playing a starring role throughout.
Necas notched three points in back-to-back games earlier this month before bagging two points against the Philadelphia Flyers last weekend. Having recorded 11 points across his past 10 outings, Necas looks set to enhance his tally against the New York Rangers.
Jason Robertson – Over 1.5 Points (+175)
Only seven players have racked up more points than Jason Robertson this season. The Dallas Stars winger has registered 93 points across 70 appearances, meaning he averages 1.25 points per game in 2022-23.
It is also worth noting that Robertson has bagged 2+ points in five of his previous 10 outings, scoring three points on three occasions in that time. That’s why I’m backing him to notch over 1.5 points when the high-flying Stars host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
Kyle Connor – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+105)
The Anaheim Ducks find themselves second from bottom in the Pacific Division, having won just 23 of their 71 games this season. Over in the Central Division, the Winnipeg Jets occupy fourth place and appear to be heading in the right direction again.
Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor has racked up 33 shots on goal across his previous 10 outings, recording six SOG on three occasions during that period. With the Ducks struggling at the wrong end of the standings, I can see Connor notching over 3.5 shots on goal at Honda Center.
