Oddmakers expect the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros to be in the World Series based on early wins projections released Tuesday morning by PointsBet.
The totals also show an anticipated rebound from the Boston Red Sox, but not enough to overtake the New York Yankees in the American League East.
The Dodgers are projected by PointsBet to be the best team in the National League. Their over-under win total is 98.5, which is ahead of the World Series champion Washington Nationals (89.5). The Nationals, based on these win-loss projections, are not pegged to win the National League East. The Atlanta Braves come in just ahead at 90.5 wins. The New York Mets (86.5) are ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (84.5) per PointsBet.
The Astros have the highest projected win total at 99.5.
The Yankees come in second among American League contenders. New York has a win-loss over-under of 97.5, Boston is at 94.5 and the Tampa Bay Rays are close behind (94.5).
The Minnesota Twins are not picked to repeat in the American League Central. The win totals show the Cleveland Indians (91.5 wins) ahead of the Twins (90.5).
The NL Central is a dead heat with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs both at 88.5 wins.
