2021 SEC Football Week 4 Betting Preview, Odds and Picks

What was the big lesson learned from week three of SEC football? Either Alabama is not as good as we thought or Florida is better than we thought. Or, Alabama is just as good as believed and Florida is as well. That’s bad news for everybody else in the SEC.

Alabama survived a trip to the Swamp last week with a 31 -29 win over the Gators and they are taking on Southern Miss this week. Florida does not have things quite as simple as they are playing Tennessee which seems to be an improved team this year. At least on the surface, more on that below.

Perhaps the biggest game in the SEC this weekend is Arkansas hosting Texas A&M. Heading into the weekend the Aggies are ranked No. 7 in the country while Arkansas is coming in at No. 16. It’s the only game on the SEC schedule between two ranked teams in week four. Here’s how week four of SEC football breaks down starting with a look at the Aggies taking on the Razorbacks!

Texas A&M vs. Arkansas Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 3:30 p.m. on CBS

Odds: Texas A&M -5.5 (-110) vs Arkansas +5.5 (-110)

Both Texas A&M and Arkansas enter the week as ranked teams in the top-25 and it’s the only ranked vs ranked matchup in SEC play. Last week Texas A&M rolled over New Mexico 34 – 0. That score could have been more lopsided. Arkansas took on Georgia Southern and won convincingly 45 – 10 against a traditionally scrappy Georgia Southern team. Plus, Arkansas beat Texas two weeks ago and at the time the Longhorns were ranked No. 15 in the country. This is going to be a close game as both teams will be fired up for an SEC win. For the record, Arkansas has covered 12 of their last 15 games where odds were available.

Best Bet: Arkansas +5.5 (-110)

Tennessee vs. Florida Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. on EPSN

Odds: Tennessee +20 (-110) vs Florida -20 (-110)

Florida threatened Alabama last week and they are a team that needs a big win over anyone this week to keep their fans, and pollsters, happy. They have a point to prove that yes, they are a really good team! The flip side of that story is that Tennessee is the team that’s going to take the hit. The Volunteers and Gators are both 2-1 on the season. Tennessee has played 2 lessor teams and blown them out and they lost to Pittsburgh. Plus, they may be going through a QB controversy. Florida comes in with all cylinders firing and ready to build on last week’s great showing against the Tide.

Best Bet: Florida -20 (-110)

Georgia vs. Vanderbilt Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 12:00 p.m. on SEC Network

Odds: Georgia -34.5 (-110) vs Vanderbilt +34.5 (-110)

Georgia comes in a solid No. 2 in the country with an impressive defense that can help put points on the board. They opened with a defensive win over Clemson to kick off the season and have since won over Birmingham (UAB) and a 40 – 13 beatdown over South Carolina. Vanderbilt has improved since they lost their opening game – even scoring several times against Stanford.

Best Bet: Vanderbilt +34.5 (-110)

LSU vs. Mississippi State Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 12:00 p.m. on ESPN

Odds: LSU -2.5 (-110) vs Mississippi State +2.5 (-110)

This will be a tight game. LSU enters with one win against the spread this season and both teams have similar stats when it comes to points scored in 2021. Over their last four games, (2020/2021) both teams are 2-2. LSU has scored 96 points during those four games while Mississippi State has scored 97.

Best Bet: Mississippi State +2.5 (-110)

Missouri vs. Boston College Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 12:00 p.m. on ESPN 2

Odds: Missouri -2.5 (-110) vs Boston College +2.5 (-110)

This is a game that could be a toss-up! Both teams are averaging about 40 points a game and seem to have their running games going and QB’s that can connect. The Tigers put up 59 points against SE Missouri State last week.

SEC Football Picks

Georgia State vs. Auburn Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 4:00 p.m. on SEC Network

Odds: Georgia State +27 (-110) vs Auburn -27 (-110)

The Auburn Tigers lost last week to Penn State and now there are questions about both their defense and offense. In addition, the Tigers had a few chances to pull things out last week but stepped on themselves. Auburn comes in with a chip on their shoulder but still may have issues against State.

Best Bet: Georgia State +27 (-110)

Kentucky vs. South Carolina Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2

Odds: Kentucky -5.5 (-110) vs South Carolina +5.5 (-110)

Kentucky is coming in unbeaten this season at 3-0 while South Carolina is 2-1. This is a big conference game for early-season standings for both teams. Kentucky is coming off a close win (28-23) over Chattanooga. South Carolina lost last week to Georgia 40-13.

Best Bet: South Carolina +5.5 (-110)

Southern Miss vs. Alabama Predictions

When: Saturday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network

Odds: Southern Miss +45 (-110) vs Alabama (1) -45 (-110)

These two teams do not match up. An example starts with the QB position. Bryce Young of Alabama has 811 passing yards while Try Lowe III comes in with 232. Every other stat follows similarly. The only question is if Nick Saban has convinced his team that they should have done better last week against Florida and need to hit the gas against Southern Miss.

Best Bet: Southern Miss +45 (-110)
