Four Ways to Bet Thursday Night Football Week 7

Thursday Night Football (TNF) this week features the historic New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles rivalry. Unfortunately, this year, the stakes aren’t high, as neither team have been remotely impressive, and frankly, not entertaining. After all, no team in the NFC East has necessarily impressed spectators.

This matchup is an interesting one to look at, though, and might be a place to make a little money. Any conference game between two weak teams presents opportunities, and the Eagles are confessedly better than their record might say.

I don’t think the Giants are going to put up that much of a fight. I know in the standings; the two teams are neck and neck. The Eagles may look like a shell of the team they normally have every year. But for the Giants, if your leading rusher is quarterback Daniel Jones, your offense is not great.

Devonta Freeman will probably become the leading rusher this week or the next, but a 3.2 yards-per-carry stat line isn’t something anybody is going to bat an eye at.

The Giants have only had one truly impressive performance this year. That came two weeks ago in their shootout with the Cowboys.

Everything in that game has rightfully been overshadowed by Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury. But it’s worth noting that the Giants put 34 points on the board, the first time this season they scored more than 16 points.

The Eagles, however, added Zach Ertz and Miles Sanders to their long list of injuries, which will weaken an already weak offense. That brings me to my first bet.

Over/Under : Take the under at 43.5 points (-110).

These teams do not score. It’s as simple as that. The Eagles find themselves in the end zone a lot more, but the Giants defense is surprisingly not terrible. They will not stop a first-rate team, but against mediocre offenses, they can get the job done.

I think you avoid the spread as -110 at +/- 4.0 just doesn’t feel worth it to me either way. Although I’m confident the Eagles have a win ahead of them, if the Giants defense plays well and Daniel Jones manages to build a little momentum in this game, the game could play close.

It’s not necessarily worth putting a lot of money on as the odds aren’t great, but I’m taking the moneyline on the Eagles (-210). I’m confident this game goes to the Eagles, even if Jalen Hurts ends up taking the field in a larger role this week.

Prop Bet : 1st to Score 20 Points

Race to 20 at -145 is another bet I’m taking for this Thursday. The simple idea on this game is neither team scores well, but the Eagles hit that mark pretty consistently.

This game won’t be a shootout, but I also don’t think it will be a dud. They don’t score a lot, but both teams still manage to get points on the board one way or another. The Eagles just do it a bit better.

Prop Bet : Who Scores 1st

I’m also betting on the Giants to score first at -110. It’s almost like betting on the coin flip, but I can feel a Graham Gano field goal fairly early on.

It’s a big 50/50 bet, but the Giants need momentum to win this game, and they’re going to be looking at their first few drives to do just that. I think a touchdown is unlikely, but they’ll make it into field-goal range.

Team to Score First: This prop bet is as simple as it sounds. You are placing a wager on which team you think will score first. More about NFL Team Props.

What is a total? – Betting on the total or what may be more commonly known as the over/under, this is a fun way to bet without the risk of one team losing. Read more about betting totals.
