Top Three Moneyline Underdog Picks for NFL Wild Card Round

Expect an upset in this week’s NFL wild card round. Since 2007, at least one underdog has won a wild card game outright in all but two seasons (2012, 2016).

Which one (or ones) will it be? We’ve got an idea. Here are the top three moneyline underdog picks for the NFL wild card round.

Will the Patriots Upset the Bills in the Playoffs?

Patriots vs. Bills Pick

The Buffalo Bills have the best defense in the NFL. They do, however, have a weak spot – run defense. If there was a team that exploited that this season, it was the New England Patriots.

New England ran for 372 yards in two games against Buffalo. They topped 200 in the first meeting this season, a game played in Buffalo in gusting winds. Patriots rookie QB Mac Jones attempted just three passes in that game.

Speaking of rookie quarterbacks, they are just 9-18 in the playoffs in the Super Bowl era. New England is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight trips to Buffalo. That means they can keep this game close enough to win. Plus…Bill Belichick.

Will the 49ers Upset the Cowboys in the Playoffs?

49ers vs. Cowboys Pick

The 49ers went 8-3 straight up and against the spread over their final eight games of the season to earn a playoff spot.

Dallas has the NFL’s top scoring offense and has gone over 50 points in two of their last three games. The Cowboys offense has played well, but they have struggled to run the ball late this season. That’s a strong point for the 49ers which have the NFL’s third-ranked defense allowing 310 yards per game.

The Cowboys defense has played well or least it appears they have. Trevon Diggs leads the league in interceptions, but outside of that he’s been terrible. That’s why Dallas ranks 26th in yards allowed per catch. Look for Deebo Samuel to have a big day and the 49ers pull the road upset.

NFL Playoffs Predictions

Will the Cardinals Upset the Rams in the Playoffs?

Cardinals vs. Rams Pick

The Cardinals struggled down the stretch winning just one of their final five games. What Arizona did though was become just the ninth team in NFL history in the Super Bowl era to win eight road games in a single season.

One of those road wins was over their NFC West rival Los Angeles, their wild card opponent this week. Los Angeles will have Matthew Stafford at quarterback. Through the first nine weeks of the season, he was the NFL’s best. Since then, he’s thrown an NFL-high 11 picks, four of which were returned for touchdowns. Stafford finished the season tied for the most interceptions with 17.

Stafford is also 0-3 in playoff games. Yes, those games came when he was playing for Detroit, but he still hasn’t won a playoff game. The Cardinals love playing on the road.
